Spiralfrog promises legitimate free music.

Over the past several years, users seem to have been forced to choose between paying for their music and downloading illegitimate copies of their favorite songs. However, Spiralfrog promises to give its users free music, supported by lots and lots of advertising. Universal studios has already signed a contract with them, and EMI records is rumored to be negotiating wiht Spiralfrog. The service works by giving its users free music in WMA format, and users have to return to the site every month to "validate" their music, or else it will expire and not play. Spiralfrog is not competing with iTunes, and is alot more like Napster and MTV's Urge.

I was thinking something cool would be a reverse Daemon Tools... say you could use it to fool iTunes and WMP into thinking that it is burning the songs to a CD when in fact it is burning then to a virtual CD Drive. Parhaps the ability to mount recordable disks in Dameon Tools will come soon? Then you could easily just rip it back to your PC with no copy protection in much less time.

Edit: I can find one or two but nothing free yet, and apparently the Deamon Tools creators have no plan to support it.
