Power Wattage needed
Hey everyone
Ive been busy buying and ordering parts for an upgrade on my system so I will be using my old and new parts, my new system layout: Motherboard: ASUS S1155 Sabertooth Z77 Motherboard CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k GPU: ATI 7970 3GB Gigabyte PCIe Video Card RAM: DDR3 8GB (2x4G) Corsair 1600MHz Vengeance CL8 Kit PSU: 775 Watt Thermaltake Toughpower XT Modular Power Supply I have a few questions: 1) is this all compatible with one another or is there something ive overlooked 2) will this all run comfortably on my power supply (as in even under heavy load) (im not looking to over-clock at this moment) 3) do I have room for add-ons, I still have money in my budget and I am a little worried with the heat the 7970s give off so is there room for some extra coolers for me? 4) also should I go with a 7950 and go for Crossfire at a later stage when I need to? Any help will be much appreciated |

Yes to everything, but the crossfire thing could push it. It depends a bit on models(like the MSI Lightning maxes out at 100W more than a "vanilla" 7970).

So power supply should be fine for now as I will be using a single 7970 or 7950 on it? but what about heat and extra cooling, ive read some pretty disturbing reports on the 7970s heat at load, and although I shouldn't be running at load all the time I don't want to be able to cook food on a gpu
