the 670 even performs better in some games then the 680... Witcher 2 3D according to Linus Tech Tips newest video.
kinda pissed at Nvidia. going to send my 680 back for a full refund and get me a 670 on the cheap. |

The 670 is an awesome card for sure. I think Nvidia kinda shot themselves in the foot a little for not crippling the 670 a little bit more. Don't feel too bad though, the card I bought cost me $150 dollars more and performs about on par with the 670. Still happy with it though. No regrets.

I'm happy with my 570......the 670 is why I never adopt early. As Erocker said with cutting edge tech there should be no regrets.........however...........BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I always want the top end cards. Hate crippled GPUs, not matter how small, so if I had a 680, I wouldn't regret it.
Look, I've got a GTX 580 when I could have got the 570 for a lot less and only a little less performance, but that wasn't good enough for me. Love my 580 and glad I got it.

yeah not me. stay right below the top of the curve. performance per dollar is what matters.
![]() that being said... i guess we all have our own scales for that. how much performance is necessary? i am sure many people would say i go overkill when i buy as well soo.. guess it's persepective

Actually, what irritates me more is someone returning a perfectly functioning card for a refund. Hopefully there is a restocking fee so the cost doesnt roll to us for someone's buyers remorse.

There's always something newer/better/whatever that's going to be released. If what you bought works and does what you want it to do, be happy with it.

Saw a guy post on [H] that he was upset he paid $1300 for a GTX690, after seeing it for 'only' $999. lol I'm Jelly. I'm looking for ~$100 deals on 5850/6850/460/560's.

+1. That's why restock fees exist, love 'em or hate 'em. Returning a perfectly working item for the reason of simply returning it and not getting hit with a restock fee makes no sense. I have no choice at work but to do that, since I can't resell the item as new legally and have to take a huge price hit.

amazon.com doesn't charge a restocking fee, i returned other computer parts to them, they pay shipping and give a full refund.
and yes witcher 2 gtx 670 does beat the gtx 680, that is unacceptable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRQqd...eature=g-all-u |

This whole thing with regrets paying too much is a nonsense. You get what you want when you want and when you can and if you can. At that point in time the 7970 was the best card available and it still is a fine card. On the other hand GK104 is an exceptional product, I dare to say it's the G80/92 of these strange times, sold for much more $$$ than initially intended due to the inability of AMD to put on the market a GPU that could truly embarrass a mid-range Kepler.
Now, if NV would have released the GK110 as the high end card for 500$/550$ instead of this mid-range turned high-end chip and that true GTX680 would have been 30% over the 7970 then I could have understood the regrets... |

670 does not outperform 680. Performance in one game is not a reliable metric. Overclocked 670 might outperform a standard clocked 680, but no 670 can touch a 680 if both are overclocked. Is the extra $100 for the 680 worth the extra frames? I dunno--not my call.

Why?
You paid for the top end card. You got all of the bells and whistles. You got all of these bells and whistles earlier than anyone else. In 12 months the 680 and 670 will be discounted significantly. Do you have buyers remorse for purchasing them then? What about during the next release cycle? If you want the bleeding edge, you pay for it in blood. You'll always see something better on the horizon, and there's never an absolute best for any longer than a few months. I suggest that you stop regretting what could have been, and start loving the silicon you've got. That's what I'd be doing anyway.

the gtx 570 doesn't outperform he gtx 580 in games. and the gtx 670 should NOT be able to outperform a GTX 680 in the witcher 2.
that just does not make logical sense and is my main argument. |

Dude the 580 was ALWAYS over priced. The 670 IMO is over priced. This is the price you pay to adopt early. Relax and enjoy the games man.

*looks at Op's sig *looks at latest response Bwahahahahahahahahaha. sorry couldn't resisit. seriously though go here it will make you feel better to know that 680's tend to reach higher clocks which will autmatically negate the situations where a 670 could outperform your card. |

At least you have the option to return GTX 680.
I'm not mad. I'm happy NVIDIA is offering a card so similar for $100 less. NVIDIA should just discontinue GTX 680 and put out a new top dog GK110 Geforce card. |

The extra RAM doesn't make a 670 quicker. Only if the 2GB card runs out of memory at high resolution will the extra RAM help.

We tested the 680 with (301.24) vs the 670 drivers (301.34). The latter does not support the 680 so who knows what it may bring to the 680.

Sorry for complaining everyone, I was just kind of mad after seeing that LinusTech video. I won't be returning it, I am happy with the GTX 680 in all respects, so I will just forget it and admit I wasted $100, not like it is the first I have wasted $100. That's life.
