Pull the Trigger on a 670?
So with all of the new flak coming out regarding this card.. it seems like an awfully good value. Essentially all a 680 is once OC'd.. $100 less.
Can't find an Asus on any websites yet, but the Gigabyte is available on Amazon overclocked, with it's own 3 fan cooler, for $399. This could be the best price for the new cards. Obviously I am drooling over the thought of a GTX 690, but the price tag, the availability to SLI in the future (will they even make them a year from now?) and the overall exclusivity make it a hard call. Look at my system specs.. my main goal is to be able to play BF3 at 120 FPS on low settings and enjoy other games as well. Although my system is dated, I figure if I get a 670.. I will get 90% of the way to 120 FPS Bf3 at low settings, and I can SLI it down the line for medium/high settings when I have a bit more money. Please chime in, I'd love to hear how people feel about the purchase of a 670 to be SLI'd in the next few months. |

The 670 may be great, but I would still suggest getting a 7950 or 7970 based on its LOW price. Also, the 79xx series have 3GB vRam, not that it drastically matters, but I'd say it's good for bragging right. LOL

It think it won't disappoint, so go for it.
nVidia have appeared to be a bit more expensive than AMD price vs performance, but I do know for the most part, the everyday consumer believes nVidia is superior than AMD GPUs regardless of statistics. Well over here anyway. When I have suggested AMD to a customer who is an amateur gamer/PC builder, they tend to be reluctant to buy with a general assumption AMD is buggy and doesn't perfom well. nVidia , It's the way it's meant to be played

I ended up ordering the 670. As for the ATI vs AMD.. I have had both kinds of cards... numerous times. For a while, value-wise AMD was the pick. Lately though I'll be honest, Geforce Cards simply are the more.. complete package. With better driver support, a more finished product, and their top end products simply outperform the AMD. However, AMD (not currently, but usually) as far as cost per performance goes is usually unbeatable. the 7850 and 7870 are point in case right now.. great value cards.
The 670, 680 and obviously 690 from Nvidia blow the doors off the 7950 and 7970 tho.. plain and simple, and price per performance are still kickin butt. |

Whoops. I was so concentrated on the 7950 being sold on [H] for $300. But I would still get the 79xx series becuase is has more vRam, not that it cares by much. But it does support 4K.
