Unusual Keyboard Request (Help?)
Hey guys, I've got a somewhat unusual request. We have an employee here at my office (I'm the IT guy) who continuously POUNDS out the keys of his keyboard when he gets frustrated, and it is annoying the other users a bit (firing is not an option). I'm looking for an affordable keyboard that not only has quiet keys, but doesn't make much noise when pounded on (keyboard case/other keys rattling) to sneakily switch out for his current Logitech keyboard. Help?

http://www.vkb-support.com/learn_more.php Those two will reduce noise, and the latter will keep him from damaging it

and all "normal" keyboards will break over time and sound terrible when he bangs on them. Ever think of sending him to anger management classes?

lmao, these comments are awesome. So far, he hasn't broken any keyboards. And yes, he DOES need anger management classes. But, I'm looking for a keyboard that solves the keyboard noise issue. Surely one exists. Most of the ones that say "quiet" or "silent" turn out to be not-so-quiet according to reviewers.

I have just the keyboard for you!
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/mice-p...ve-combo-mk550 I own this keyboard and one of the first things i noticed was the silent keys. Comfy and cheap too.

the ones I showed should. Might be the easy answer, and not what is "normal" for your office, but neither is this guy.
I seriously cant think of a keyboard that sounds good when you beat on it, nor can take the abuse over the long term. Also in my opinion you can get the quietest keys on the market, but when slammed with a fist, I guarantee it will make noise, and lots of it.

Or perhaps an alternate solution, like a mass-based sound absorbing pad or something that could be affixed to the bottom of the keyboard?

I can only suggest the following:
Low profile keys (less distance to travel) i.e. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/razer...h-hyperesponse Maybe a thick, large mouse mat or pad placed underneath the keyboard to help absorb any sound. I would avoid getting a keyboard that had a different layout than his previous one, I'm sure it would only get him more annoyed. EDIT: ZexGX beat me to it.

The keyboard is reeeeally quiet though, about as quiet as you can get without going to touch keybaords. My laptop keyboard is 10x louder than that one for example and its just a regular lappy keyboard.

tell him and jokingly that you'll switch him to a foldable keyboard if he continues, then next time he does it literally do it for a week
