Are you connected to a Sata III port?

Nope,

i think the best that the ASUS P6T motherboard has is Sata 2

Just checked the manual and under storage it says 6X SATA 3.0 Gb/s ports.

So are these speeds normal for 3.0Gb/s ports???

Looks about right then. Do you know if it is plugged into the Marvell controller (slower) or into the chipset controller?

This. Adding controllers always makes ssds slower in my experience. If you can run it straight ahci off the boards built in controller its ideal, IMO.

Alignment, though green, is an odd number... weird.

Run ATTO though and post the results as that is what MFG use to spec their drives.

SataII is cripping you regardless... mobo upgrade time.

Not that I'm saying you shouldn't upgrade your system, but you bought a mainstream 240GB SSD and are now considering spending hundreds on a new system just to un-bottleneck it, if you were going to go to such lengths you probably should have gotten the Deluxe model which uses 32nm Toggle NAND instead of the cheaper which uses 25nm Asynchronous.

The regular Chronos will still do over 500MB/s.
Why not pick yourself up a PCI-e Sata3 raid card on the cheap and hook it to that.
Cheaper than replacing all the other hardware.

Put it in the BST section. Just make sure to read the rules.
I'm sure there will be interested people.

I'm just saying he would have had higher performance overall with the Deluxe, and his AS SSD results probably wont change that much, it should still be around 200 to 300MB/s on SATAIII.

But, Good luck with the new system.

He's limited by the port, not the drive.

more than the port. As The One has stated twice in this thread any Async drive is a piece of trash i dont care who makes it,and if your going balls out why not buy the best available, something with toggle nand.

That are pretty normal speeds, on x58 the sata 3 chip is on a pci-e 2x lane, that means you are capped @ 250mb/
I had the same problem, but i returned everything and picked up Z68

Hey everyone,

Thanks again for all the help replies. Yesterday I ran a few more tests and at one point got a sequential read speed of 391 (no joke) but since then it has been the same thing as the first screen shot I posted earlier.

Does this mean the drive is capable of 391 with a 3Gb/s Sata port? I'm guessing yes but I've tried to figure out which variable made it possible and can't figure it out. Here is a screen shot I took this morning.
