"A target PC game for the first time in many, many years...", so all of a sudden we aren't pirating heathens anymore? Kinda makes it all the more obvious that was a load of BS in the first place. I'm not sure Epic is going to win back the many, many PC fans they lost after some of the things Cliffy B said about us. If anything any PC titles they make from here on out will be pirated all the more just because a lot of players that they made their mega bucks off of when they were making PC only games before their console exclusive stint feel rather slighted by them.

Fair enough BB. To be honest, I've always thought of UE (regardless of version) as more of a cookie cutter game marketing tool for them to make money off of than anything to marvel over. Furthermore other developers often make better use of it than do Epic's own programmers. Batman Arkham City for instance has better looking graphics than most games that use UE3.
The last games I've played that Epic made with their own engine were horribly color washed and darkened with some of the worst use of post processing I've ever seen. Lastly, I really don't see anything so mind blowing in that tech demo to indicate UE4 will be any better than the average game engine, esp come 2014, a full 2 years away yet. In short, UE has always been more of an easy to edit engine for marketing than a set-the-bar phenomenon like they're making it out to be, and I don't think UE4 will change that. |

This almost seemed to be a tech demo for PhysX. The art direction is okay at best, but I really liked the lava and the particle effects on the demon's hammer.

That looks amazing
What I really want with next gen is not just better graphics, but also a bump in AI and physic's There have been a lot of great games this gen but a lot of the games require no thinking and it's just mindless zombified shooting, I want a game that makes me actually think hard and challenge my skills as a gamer (Dark Souls ) that's when I really get WOWed by a game

thanks, I was waiting for the UE4 demo!.. seems to live up to its hype..
another game engine demo that is worth mentioning @ E3 is by Square-Enix - Luminous Studios.. Its called Agni's Philosophy, based on Final Fantasy series.. it is 'real-time' and impressive too |

Stephen Totilo at Kotaku said it was running on the Samaritan build. Mark Rein at Epic confirmed over Twitter it's running Unreal Engine 3 but it looks better..

DNF? Thats one game in the series, the next doesn't need to be Forever 2. That game was plagued by over a decade long creation time. Now that Gearbox is at the helm of the series (I hope), I would love to see another Duke title done properly and not drug out over 15 years, I think Gearbox could make something great.

Not going to lie, I'm really excited for games to be made for Unreal Engine 4. Unreal Editor is one of the best mapping utilities I've ever used. Granted I haven't used it since UnrealEd 2 and I'm sure they've improved it since then.
