I did another test with 700 core 1200 mem and it was 76C
Now at 500 and 1000 it runs better. 67% fan with 67C
I always remove the window of the case so it can take more breath
You mean playing games?
Edit: This after playing Dirt3
Also, the clocks where 425 for the core and 600 for mem

Temps with 500 core 1000 mem

Now the card runs less hot because of room temperature which is 21

But, why your clocks are less than the normal ?
What is your GPU voltage when full load ?

I mean, in GPU-Z, you must clica on the "?" simbol and Start Render Test, than go to Sensors tab and see the VDDC Line, down there.

This is only thing that makes sense...If I run both of my HD6950 with 45% fan they won't go past 60-65'C!
I use to have a 5770 (which is basically the same)and temps never went above 65-70 highly overclocked!
And I mean high...I use to love that card...for real

My GPU was like yours, but I discovered that the voltage was so high and for the model of mine was not good, then, I just downloaded the Radeon Bios Editor and set the voltage less than the normal factory.
Maybe you can do this.

Thanks!
How can i download and apply bios?
My voltage is 1.2V, at least that is what it says while gaming
Normally is 0.9 or 0.95V

Yes, the voltage 0.9 is in 2D mode is applied when the GPU is on iddle mode, this is normal
But for you edit your voltage is very dangerous, if you make something wrong you can crash your card and you'll have to do another thing.
First off, Go to GPU-Z and click on the simbol in the right side of GPU-Z " It is on the Bios Version line " anyway, clica on Save To file, it will get as not responding that's normal, and then save it to DEsktop. ( If you have certain difficulty to understand what i said, I've posted a picture in the final of this post )

Download this program : http://us2-dl.techpowerup.com/Utilities/RBE/RBE_128.exe

Then, open it and click in "Load BIOS", choose the Bios file that you have saved, and go to the clock settings.
You will see all the clocks of your GPU and the voltage below them. So, click on the " Clock tuning wizard ( over-/underclocking), will show a screen, click in next, then, in voltage your put 1.1, click in next, next again, and Finish, Save the bios in any directory.

Step 2 :

Now is the BIOS flash part, download the USB Image and extract it to an empty folder : http://www.mediafire.com/?488gcg74966nd41

then download the HP Format Tool :
http://download1us.softpedia.com/dl...4ff088cb/100123786/software/hdd/HPUSBDisk.exe

and finally the atiflash : http://uk1-dl.techpowerup.com/Utilities/BIOS_Flashing/ATI/atiflash_395.zip

Step 3 :

You'll need an pen drive for complete this step.

Install the HP Format Tool, open it, then in Device choose your pen Drive letter, in File system let it in FAT, mark the box Quick Format and mark the box Create a DOS startup disk.
Browse to the folder that you have extracted the USB Image, choose him and click on Start, press Yes, and wait for the program format the Pen Drive.

then Extract the atiflash inside the pen drive, and extract the edited bios inside the pen drive too.

reboot your system, and select boot through the pen drive, Will appear an DOS prompt and you write there.

atiflash -p -f 0 xxxx.rom ( xxxxx is the name of the bios you have wrote).

Wait for the finish, Now if everything occur sucessfully, the system will boot, otherwise, you have to remove your card from the Motherboard, go to BIOS, choose boot only from the onboard VGA, go to windows take the original BIOS that you saved from GPU-Z, put in on pen drive, turn off your system, put the GPU in PCI-E again, and do the same process ( boot through the pen drive, command...)

If the problem still not get solved, you could try to download the Asus GPu Tweak v2.0.6.0 and configure it to unlock the voltage settings for the GPU, and with this you can down the voltage even more.

So that's all, I hope it works for you. Good Luck.

I'm sorry about my english.

Very special thanks man :)
Thanks for helping and i hope it works!
I will try it now, i have only one question.
The edited bios has a very long name so i renamed it 123.rom
Is this ok to rename it?

EDIT: i did the bios flash, but had to remove the usb after restarting the pc because it restarted automatically
The card still shows 1.2V
I am downloading the asus gpu tweak, but there are newer versions. Do i need to download the latest of them?
I installed the version you told, now i am watching the voltage which is 1100mV
Is that normal?

Sounds like it to me. My 6870s run stock at 1.15v and I would expect a slower, lower power version of the 6000-series to be about the same if not a little lower.

I just read the default is 1.125v for the 6770 and another place said 1.2v is stock, but I'm sure that varies depending on the vendor. I would play around with it using Kombustor to find out when it is no longer stable.

I worked with Asus one! :)
Lets put it to test now!
Should i lower it even more?

EDIT: Put it down to 1.0V and it ran as hot as 62C!
Actually, the max voltage was 1.1V
@John
THANKS! :)

Do you have Afterburner and Kombustor installed? It's the same package. I would run Kombustor on regular settings and adjust the core voltage in after burner every 5 to 10 minutes until it starts giving you issues, that way you can find what voltage it is happy with at whatever clock you're going to be running, stock or otherwise. I also don't recommend flashing the BIOS a lot because EEPROM has a limited number of write cycles, so I would stick to Afterburner for altering the core voltage and flashing a modified BIOS once you find that sweet spot. Basically you want to redefine what stock is for your video card and the only way to do that is stress testing it while slowly increasing/decreasing your GPU's voltage to find that right balance.

You're right, flashing BIOS is not recommended, but, my card had a switch voltage locked, i 've had to edit my bios for get it unlocked. But about crash the GPU, I own killed my GPU for about 15 times, :D, and I fixed by doing that tip that I said to him.

And this could be a tutorial for someone, bad done, but ot impossible to do it.

PCE.

Yes, looks like it was solved.
The voltage was made like that to maintain better performance i guess.
Though a very good lesson to be learned :)

Even got these results:
1.2V 91C
1.1V 71C
1.0V 62C

Depends on clocks that i put too
Still not the same as chix_AHOY asus temps... :p

Is that at stock speeds and have you been stress testing at the lower voltages? I would also create a custom fan profile because even at something like 1.15v you might be able to squeeze a little more performance out of the video card without increasing heat. Every video card has its sweet spot.

Actually it is not at stock. It is lower, but still it is 500/1000 compared to 425/800 i always have.
And yeah, it is nice to have a costum fan profile, but will try it tomorrow.
I usually use it to 75%, so now it is at max 62% and 66C while playing GTA IV
66C is Ok for temp? Or will it cause any damage to the video card?
Lowering the voltage made me crash the pc :( (got some green lines on the screen)
Does it damage the gpu too?

I believe 66ºC is normal for HD 6770, even playing GTA Iv the game is very very heavy, so, I don't understand why your temps are so that high, maybe you have to change the thermal paste, mine HD 6770 gets on 66º C with overlock to 920 MHz in full load.

There's something wrong going on there.

This made me lol...

It is a legit question. Its over 100 degree's here in the southern states and I wonder that if he does not have any AC in his house that this maybe causing the cards temps to go higher than normal. 80+ degree room temps can make PC's sad pandas.

It is a legit question. Its over 100 degree's here in the southern states and I wonder that if he does not have any AC in his house that this maybe causing the cards temps to go higher than normal. 80+ degree room temps can make PC's sad pandas.

A good reason why my rig lives in an air conditioned room. ;)

80fahrenheit is not the same as 80celcius
Here for example the temps are 87fahrenheit or 30C
Room temps are not the same though
Still, cannot find what is wrong, but anyway, it is fine playing :p

2) re-apply thermal paste and re-install the cooler.

This is the only thing that will clear all your problems IMO...what's the point of having a nice graphic card if u have to downclock it all the time!!!
That cooler should keep temps at 70'C even overclock so something is wrong!Where did u get that card anyway?

It clearly says on the manual that the card wont work if you put it in the first slot pci-express

That's normal(or should be) It's just going into power save mode. If you click the question mark it should let you put some load on it and max the PCI-E again.
If it doesn't well then you may have an issue.
