According to Intel, 1333 is considered overclocking on E5520:

Yeah, 1333 would be overclocking. E5520 will always default to 1066/800

According to this:
http://www.avadirect.com/intel-nehal...therboards.htm

Intel Xeon 5500 series supports:
-Registered DIMMs (RDIMM)
-ECC unbuffered DIMMs (UDIMM ECC)
-Unbuffered DIMMs (UDIMM)
-MetaRAM DIMMs

Not ECC registered...
Computer Hardware, Memory, Server Memory, 240-Pin...

Edit: One of the commenters on here is using ECC unbuffered in an SR-2 with two Xeon E5645. Unbuffered will also be slightly faster.
