Dealing With Difficult Game Server Admins/Leaders
I was just banned from a CoD4 server. If you're interested, there's an ongoing thread about it at the web site for that server (get some popcorn
):http://fusiongamers.com/forum/index....ic,3391.0.html And I was thinking it might be interesting to swap stories and experiences dealing with difficult server admins and leaders. How do you approach it? Has it prevented you from enjoying a game? (In my case, the server I was banned from is dead enough that I don't care anyway, but I'd be bummed if it happened at a more happening place.) How about coming at it from the other side—if you're a server admin (I am an admin as well), how do you keep yourself fair and objective? |

Find a different server, move on. Unless you like the drama of course, then keep it up. It's your word against theirs and they have the "power" so you're basically just yelling at a wall that may or may not have a witty comment for you to enjoy.

Erocker is right, I had to deal with this time and time again when I was playing CS competitively (CAL-M) Just find another server and have fun. Pubs are nothing but a time to waste.

Haha well, this isn't so much about my particular experience. In this particular case it was a server that I rarely visit and don't care about getting unbanned from anyway. But I imagine some people here have stories of frustration about getting banned from servers they really liked.

Well.. If I like a server there is generally some sort of positive communication between the people on the server. I guess I've never been banned from a server for "hacking" before.

I wouldn't even bother. That guy says your talking like you have entitlement, but his post has superiority complex written all over it, all he's doing is talking down, just a hypocrite who thinks he has a lot of power because he runs a server, but it's not the only server out there, which it almost seems like he thinks it is, with the tone that he carries he makes it sound like this ban will be detrimental to your quality of life.
I'd probably drop a response like what I just basically said about him, wish them all happy gaming, and not bother going back.

I don't really play online much. However, I'm a total forum addict (what gives that away then?
)I joined another tech forum a couple of years ago after a mate kept bugging me to do so. I made around 15 posts and one thread about the MARS GTX 285, remember them? A few hours later it was simply deleted without any warning and the thread had been showing quite some interest from the members, too. My discussions with the members overall in that forum were generally going pretty well, too. I PM'd the admin and he gave me some shitty reply about not pointing to other site's reviews, even though they had no intention of reviewing it. I said I really wasn't happy about this, especially the lack of courtesy with notification and a couple of other things and got some smartass reply back. On top of that, this admin was keeping double standards about posting articles, so I wasn't even breaking the rules in any way. I never bothered posting there again - and my login still works. That admin was a total w*nker and had no idea how to nurture and keep new members. I've walked away from other forums with asshat admins too, but that one was especially bad. I never get crap like this here as we have great staff and this is why I stay.

I've not been banned from any game servers before. But if I were I'd just load up another and not even think twice about it.

They deleted all the posts and unbanned you. Looks like at least something works there.

Just read through the chat log, I hate people like that.
If i accused people of being hackers every-time they were owning me I'd get no gaming done lol ( was playing Cod round a friends the other day and one dude on the other team was completely shit wrecking everyone, our first through was holy shit he's good! so we ganged up on him lol) |

I remember back when I played Halo 1 on PC when i had a dial up connection (
) I got called a hacker all the time and this one time some kid said that he had software installed on his computer that told him who was using hacks and who wasnt. I never cheat in an online game it takes the fun out of it IMO but he said he could "CLEARLY" see i was hacking with this "software" he had. Lol I just called him a dumbass and left before i got banned. Made another character and rejoined under a new name lol.

I'd just like to take a moment to thank all the wannabe, dumbass, over-bearing, ban-crazy, thoughtless, immature mods in games and forums.
You make us look good and help keep our members "at home".
