hd6950 @x8 help??
ok here is the deal!! few months ago i get my hands on this card and try to ulock shaders to hd6970 i bricked the card and with help of u guys and patience i revived the card ...i play all the games that is out now on max setings with no porblem! but my card is workin on x8 bandwith wehere it should be x16..it was since i try to flash the card!! why is that??and will it change if i put it to other motherboard!im geting i7 2600k and msi z68ma-ed55!!
my PC spec now are ---------------------- athlon 2 x2 250 3.0ghz mb biostar tx790gx ram 8gb ddr3 1333mhz psu silverstone strider 500w ------------------------------ hope u reply soon thnx |

Is the card installed in the top PCIe slot?

no its on lower pci-e slot!! a read on motherboard manual it is master slot! but i think i even try to put it on uper one but it works on same bandwith!!im thinking flash didnt go perfectly but after many failed flashes...,witch didnt work at all (gpu-z readout was wierd) this one xfx bios work and im not sure if it work fine!! im just hoping it will work @16 on msi motherboard

Well, although is not ideal, the performance difference between PCIe 2.0 16x and 8x is negligible.
I would take a look at the bios, maybe reset the CMOS and re-install the chipset and GPU drivers just in case. Sorry that I can't be of more help.

no no thank u!! i stumble on similar post on our forum and the guy have similar problem!!well his card was workin @x1!! and he reseted cmos and after that it was workin @x16 but when he OC cpu it goes bacn to x1 ... ,since i cant oc my cpu when all my ddr slot are populated im guesing its not cpu but maybe MB problem...
