OS install on SSD and Steam

Going to do a clean OS install on my SSD along with a few Steam games..Would like to start with a fresh game load also as having a few glitches with one of them.

Any problems as to Steam account problems.

Had it all on my platter drive that I'm going to reformatt also after
a OS load on the SSD.

Steam on an ssd is nice and quick. One thing I always do is to uninstall/deactivate any games that are installed before wiping it out. Some games have an activation limit, so that takes care of that. I'm not even sure which ones do; Dead Space is what I'm thinking of .... I think...

The only problem will be moving games you don't want on the SSD over to the HDD, Steam doesn't let you choose where to install. The popular method around this is to create a junction point and move the game folder over to the HDD, there are a couple of applications out there that can do this for you, one is Steam Mover.

Of course if you don't have many games to install then you should be fine.

Only two I'm putting on the SSD are COD MW3 retail disc and
Deux Human Revolution Steam D/L retail.

Want to start over clean as to those.

What are the Activation problems anyway??
Have all the keys.

The activation thing I was talking about is probably nothing to worry about, and it's not Steam's activations but the game's itself. Some games, after you install them in Steam, require an online activation, usually you get like 5 activations. If you deactivate them when uninstalling, you get the activation back. I think I'm thinking mainly of Ea games: I thought Dead Space is one, maybe Crysis, not sure if it even applies so i wouldn't be overly concerned.

If you've never seen the activation thing I mentioned, I wouldn't worry about it.

What I do before reinstalling Windows is uninstall my games first, then reinstall.

Remember to backup your games and old Steam folder. I usually just rename it BackupSteam.

Steam works fine from your HDD, in fact is the best place to install with most of your games. (if you have a large game library.)
And as TheOne stated, you can use SteamMover to move the games you want over to an SSD. Even after you do a clean install of them on HDD.

Also, if you keep a backup of your old games and steam folder, you can just copy them over after you re-install steam and you shouldn't hae to download them all over again.

I use this method when I change OS or do an OS re-install. Currently using SteamMover with my most played games on SSD.

I'm starting from scratch as to OS reload on the SSD and only two games from
scratch, COD MW3 and DEUX.
Rest of the games really not into.
Only have time for two anyway.
Have all the keys.

The games were on the platter drive but going to Format that and only use for
info pics and music.
