Best CPU Heatsink?

im buying a cpu heatsink next month, price is no object unless there is one that cost more than 180.... so theres the budget... whats the best ivy bridge compatible heatsink? air only no water please... i found this.. is there anything better?

i bought this one:
Thermaltake CLP0575 Frio OCK Universal CPU Cooler ...

with this case fan
1ST PC CORP. PFB1212UHE-F00 120mm Case Fan

apparently this one is better

http://www.frostytech.com/articlevie...articleID=2521
this air cooler is ranked better than the H80 water cooling solution, now that is kick ass

Depends on your goal. If you don't care about sound, get the Frio and slap two 150 CFM 120mm fans on that puppy and you can overclock all day long. Only problem if that your tower is going to sound like a 2U rack server at full speed with them. I have that and it works well but it can get loud very easily if you don't keep the fan speeds down. Otherwise I feel that maybe an all copper zalman cooler would be a better option if you like your computer being quiet while still having pretty good ability to cool.

This is the copper variant of the cooler that I have on my SB-E right now.

Yes, but what exactly are you wanting to do? Extreme overclocks or moderate overclocks? Water cooling or air cooling?

The best heat sink via air or water is subjective on what you are wanting to do.

Yeah, even a Hyper 212+ is going to do a decent job, and only costs like $25. My IVY CPUs seem to lose stability @ around 100 Watts of power drawn, so it's not like you're gonna really need THAT much.

I mean, I am aware that these chips are hot, but still.

Phanteks make an NH-D14 clone that apparantly performs better than the Noctua, and might be a tad cheaper...or not. I also think there is some...uh, crap who is it, cooerlmaster cooler? with a wide heatpipe or vapour chamber, or something...that's been mentioned to me a few times by other reviewers I talk to.

Maybe I should do some cooler reviews....

Uh...no, I do not, but I'm sure I could wrangle something up at some point. There are a couple of companies that I am sure would love to have TPU review their stuff. Noctua would get me a D14, for sure, and thermaltake has some fantasic staff too..

Thing is, I got like 4 boards sitting here, expecting about 4 more, and a couple of memory kits at least, so the earliest I could do a any sort of cooler reviews would be after August.

I have that fan. Good for a laugh or two, for sure. Takes like 90 seconds to spin up to full speed.

Nothing like a fan that pulls as much power as a stock-speed IVB does!

I really like my Prolimatech Megahalem. I have my 2500k at 4.5GHZ and it never gets higher then 48c during BF3

I would think the difference between the two would be extremely minimal...

The NH-D14 is capable of more RPM, however, the Phantek is capable of better air flow (however less RPM).

Oh, of course...I have three of them, after all. However, I want new ones for PCIe 3.0 testing. I'm more than happy with the 6950's for gaming.

It barely fit into my Antec 1200. I had to remove the side panel fan to get it to fit. Let me tell you though, two really fast and loud fans wil get loud. Have fun.

I'm partial to the HDT technology, and this one is well loaded with it!
Also, Copper heatpipes are great.

but its top 3 without a doubt the best "air" cooling solution that is not home-made, right?
