System Specs

AMD ATI 5850 Game Edition ? OC

Hey guys i have yestorday upgraded my GPU i recently buy an AMD HD 4870 x2 then i sold it and i get one 6790 and now i changed to 5850 Game Edition, and must say i see much perfomance in this one card very good and fast! now i want ask you guys if i did right thing and if this 5850 is good for games, i have ben playing BF3 online and i see much diference betwin 6790 and 5850, shold i keep this 5850 ? i know that there now are some new gpus on market for good price like 100$ buks i can get somthing like 6870 in second hand but for now i spend to much on changing GPUS and many time,

Pls tell me is good ? and my GPU is this one :

and guys wich OC it wold be beter for this card ? i now have auto-tune by Overdrive is 765 and 1115, Now wich wold be beter oc for perfomance, and my friend told me that if my 5850 was the first of all 58XX series i can turn my 5850 to 5870 in BIOS is this correct ?

System Specs

5850 is a good card but is getting older by the minute. I had to OC my card to 1000 core and 1200 memory to get IMO playable frames in BF3 so maybe look for a little bit higher end card like the new 660TI or 7950

well that 5850 is faster than 6790 at stock and faster than 4870x2 once you up the clock a little, 6870 is around the same speed maybe a bit faster but hasvery limited oc potential vs 5850.

Thanx bud, look and can you tell me wic one you have the model caus my model is a reference card design, it looks like 5870, now also i wondering if i can get my card in to an 5870 ? i know there is a BIOS modify program my friend told me that i must see wich year my card is and i was looking at my bios and is say that is 2010/01/22 so can i modify my card ? thankx

You cannot unlock a 5850 to 5870 shaders but you can OC to 5870 speeds (Card depending)

no you cant just magically transform you card into a 5870 like that just use msi afterburner for oc.

Look pall i have one quastion you have 1000on gpu and 1200 on mem with your 5850 now wen you play BF3 online do you have any GPU spikes like from 98% to 34% ? caus i have this OC on my card is 775 and 1125 is max in Overdrive can go more in Overdrive from Cat and wen i play BF3 i see that my gpu is full loadlike shold be and then its drop to 34% ? wy ? is a to much of OC ? caus if i look at your OC i can say WOW !! DUDE ! keep in mind my card is from Sapphire is an ATI AMD HD 5850 Game Edition 1Gb

I have never gotten any gpu spikes. Itmaybe due to unstable of on the gpu
