Crossfire setup x800 with x850?

OKAY i got a problem, i have a crossfire READY graphics card, HIS X800 gto vivo/turbo, shows up as r430 core but it is r480 as i can hit 600mhz easy, Problem is, I picked out a master card but it is an X850, and i could have sworn i read somewhere that x800 and x850 can be paired, BUT NOW i cant find anything (lol) that says that they can. All i can find is that you have to have the same version (example) i need 2 X850's..... This card BTW im looking at is dirt cheap for enabling crossfire (160$) o.O (i know what your thinking) HOLY S***T cuz thats what i was thinking. :/ Please tell me wether or not i screwed myself, AND that if flashing the secondary bios to a compatible X850 will work, because i think all i need to do is "please" ati CCC that i have 2 identicle cards. Lemme kno asap pls... thnx

if you over clock a opteron to a fx60, it doesn't make it a fx60, if you are unsure, take of the heatsink, and check the core!
as for crossfire, all you can do is try the crossfirejack hack

X850XT CFE should work w/ X800 cards that are CrossFire ready. I know people who have an X850XT CFE w/ HiS X800 CF Ready cards. But the X850XT will lower it's clocks, and the max resolution is 1600x1200.

Ok...

trust me its r480 im sure, there is no way a r430 (which i have a grfx card with r430, cannot OC at all) can hit 600, lol ive had this heatsink off 2 or 3 times already im sick of taking it off and i never bothered to look LOL, that and i had it flashed to r480 so i kno it can be an r480 anyway, well pretty much b and r480.... but it is. i dont feel like disssasembling and scraping off my arctic silver i am tryin crossfirejack as i have a x800gto laying around, but no matter what i do it doesnt seem to work, crossfire tab is there, but i cant enable it, at the bottom it says i must have a tv or something plugged because i dont seem to have the color quota... it says plug a crt in or lcd, I HAVE A CRT, could this be why i cannot enable it, if so my wal-mart P.O.S just isnt cutting it eh? reply pls thnx

"i never bothered to look LOL"

well, you cannot be 100% sure unless you check the core, and why didn't you check it the other 2 or 3 times when you removed the heatsink? and for what purpose?

you should always clean the exposed core and reapply thermal paste b4 reattaching the heatsink.

have you tried to change your cable between the primary plugs on the cards?

even though, i think you need the "composition" (or whatever it's called) chip that outputs the frames.

i changed it all over, i thought i had it but no....still playin with it though right now, at this moment and will be, im going to try and make sure the other card "r430" is flashed to a crossfire ready gpu, i think my last flash wasnt quite right, missed a 3 that was supposed to b a 2, btw id did clean the old thermal paste off, took me forever they really gobbed the heck out of it, i think they were trying to insulate it lol... so much thermal paste, i just plain forgot to look..... i hate it when that happens.

He is right about his core as no r430 even volt modded will clock that high and alot of GTOs with the r480 use a modified r430 xl bios, the last of the GTO2s with VIVO and dual DVI were a good example of this. You could use the XL bios or the XT PE bios provided your card supported the higher clocks.

I looked around no x850 master cards anywhere, to x1800 gtos can run masterless and would run with sm3 support. Price wise you can buy one now and get the other later, use your x800 series elsewhere or sell it. Ebay doesn't even have them.

this is terrible, the card i picked out is sold out everywhere, i googled x850 crossfire edition and they either come up as sold out WAAY overpriced or falsly advertised as a crossfire "edition" when they're actually "ready", now this topic is pretty well closed, as i couldnt test it even if i had nothin better to do with my money other than BURN it since i cannot buy a graphics card....if you know where i might find one for about 160$ which should be the price... lemme kno pls

But if you take an X2 4400+ and overclock to 2.4Ghz, then it makes it an X2 4800+, or if you overclock it to 2.6Ghz, it makes it an FX-60. Since they're all "Toledo" w/ same specs.

I know the X2 3800+ isn't Toledo, but I'm just saying if you take an X2 4400+ to FX 60 speeds, they're the same.

The "new" X2 4400+ looks really nice, since it's 89 Watts energy efficient, you can overclock higher. Some people are reaching 2.9-3.0Ghz on it.

fx60 runs @ 2600mhz has 2 mb l2 cache (1mb per core) and does not have a multiplier lock

what abot if you take an x800gto2 and flash it to an x850xt pe, does that make it an x850xtpe as the cards are physically identical in every way save for the rage theatre chip,?

Can't you mix-n-match cards in crossfire?
As long as there in the same series
and crossfire ready

Like idk x1600 w/ x1900crossfire?
So x800 w/ x850crossfire should work

nope only x1900 series with x1900 x1800 with x1800 etc..
and why would you crossfire a x1600 and a x1900? the x1900 will downclock and disable certain features (like ram and pipelines) just to meet the x1600

in a crossfire setup, the cards wil never be more powerful than the weakest (i.e. a x1900xtx with a X1900CF the xtx will downclock itself to meet the X1900CF)
