Btw, I though SATAIII bandwidth can go up to 750MB/s, but still I cannot see any new drive out there pushing more than 550MB/s. Is because of controller only?

A-DATA also have a SandForce ssd with no overprovisioning, the A-DATA SP900 series:

So it's kind of funny that they put their badge on a very similar SSD.

I stayed away from anything Sandforce and opted for a Marvell controlled Plextor M2P (same thing as the Corsair Performance Pro), which I'm very pleased with, no issues at all so far.

The theoretical maximum bandwidth of SATA 6Gb/s is 600MB/s. And that's before protocol overhead. So the actual maximum is around 550-560MB/s.

They are pretending the 7% overprovisioning is the standard loss of GB to GiB. It will still come out to ~119.2GiB.

Actually no, 600MB/s is with protocol overhead included.

6Gbit/s with 8b10b encoding is 600MB/s.

Isnt the point that they r using SLC instead of MLC? I dont think they r charging double for the TT logo. GB=Gigabyte Gb=Gigabit GiB = ????

Good luck buying a SLC drive with 128GB of flash for less than a grand. Each of the 8 chips on this drive sell routinely for 130 Dollars in quantities of 1000.

TweakTown is not writing a review, that would be unethical. I did write a preview of the drive in single and RAID 0 with working TRIM to show it off. Most likely my article will not go live before the article at RWLabs. There was no NDA. The people that bought the drive on the first day already have theirs because next day shipping was included and free.

As for OP, RAISE is turned off so the last chip is used for user data.

The Plextor M2 Pro is not the same as the Corsair Performance Pro. The hardware configuration is the same but the FW is a lot different.

This is an enthusiast product so I don't expect mainstream users to really 'get it'. SLC changes the compressible vs. incompressible slope, there is only a very small difference when moving from one to the other and both stay above 500 MB/s read and write speeds.

As for the cost, there are only a couple left. 50 people will get the fastest consumer SSD in the world. I have number 1.

The price did not double for the TweakTown logo. The price did increase with the 5-year warranty, 100K P/E cycle Intel 25nm NAND Flash (over your consumer 3K P/E cycle flash), the desktop adapter bracket that holds two SSDs, and the really nice accessory kit.

This is what happens when you let a SSD enthusiast become a product manager. All of the bases are covered and you get a kick ass drive. Price is secondary.

TRIM actually works now too which is a nice feature to have even though very few reviewers found the issue with 5.0.1 and 5.0.2.

I think most of the peeps here are missing that this is an SLC drive. This makes a huge difference with the life of the drive. Quality is vastly superior to MLC.

The PCB is replaced, not the case. It's hard to get a manufactures defect in aluminum that wasn't caught at the factory.

i never rma a ssd but dont they usually replace the whole thing ?

i just got a samsung 830 128gb not to long ago my first ssd

MLC has never been faster than SLC. MLC has always cost less than SLC. In the SSD boom when 60GB of MLC cost 200 Dollars 60GB of SLC cost 2000.
