Which monitor should I buy?

Daily use/casual gaming PC.

This shellshocker- Shell Shocker Deal. Exclusive Jaw Dropping Saving...

This Acer- Acer G276HLDbd Black 27" 6ms (GTG) Widescreen LED...

Vote away!

I like the size and 199.99 price tag. If you have a different suggestion please make sure its still 27" and close to 199.99.

Resolution aside, the Acer will likely be the more reliable of the two.

ACER...I looked up the AOC and several people complian about pixels that get stuck near the corners...
AT first I was like AOC all the way....until I found the monitor on a few other sites and people say the same thing about the pixels sticking in the corners.

This, no point getting 27" unless you are sitting pretty far from the screen.

I think you'd be better off getting something smaller or expanding your budget a bit for a 27"

Something like this:

So it has a little better contrast ratio and response time? I not a snob about monitors so if i am missing something else let me know. and yes I am a crybaby when people cant read OP. Thanks for keeping it halfway on topic regardless of what you think about me.

I read the OP just fine. The 2 moniters didn't look that great so I made a suggestion to change your criteria.

You're not going to get a good 27" LCD for $200 unless you get a good secondhand deal but you can get a good 21-23" for under $200.

Yes, but understand "good" is a relative term. People have different opinions of good. I cannot tell much difference between a 200.00 and 600.00 monitor, hence the reason I am purchasing a 299.99 monitor on sale for 199.99 I am not picky, and honestly I do not see what is so bad about either monitor. The only thing I don't see is HDMI(which i don't care about). 6ms vs 2-4ms. and 60hz vs 144/75hz? I don't think i could personally tell the difference. So if i am not missing anything I think its a great monitor for 199.99.

Assuming you're going to be using this for gaming and the Acer in the OP is a VA panel that will respond slower.

And AOC from my observations is like the dollar store soda brand of displays so I wrote that one off.

Here's an analogy. Would you rather have a 400w Corsair PSU that has more features and you can be pretty certain it will be solid for less or the same price as the 1000w NZXT/Apevia firestarter?

I agree..
For instance I'm in need of both a TV for my room and a monitor...
this is how picky I am...

Considering you have yet to tell me what is bad about either monitor, your analogy is useless. Also, neither of these are going to catch on fire... It just wont be as pretty or respond as fast(to someone much more picky than me). Also, the Acer has a 5egg rating and a lot of people really seem to like its performance. Its starting to seem like your just trolling instead of being of any help.

My only gripe about either monitor is what has been hinted in the first post.
Resolution vs panel size.

But the OP may not notice jaggies as much or is not agitated by them as some of us can be.

make sure to buy an IPS monitor. they are pretty cheap nowadays. dell will give you a 22" 1080p IPS for <200$

AOC = early capacitor failure very common added on top of what the reviews indicated with pixels sticking.

The acer is VA panel (which most in this community frequently play games, this is slower) and only has VGA/DVI (alot here have multiple display setups, in the future you may want display port - I don't know)

It would be easier if you specified what you'll be using it for.

TN = gaming
eIPS/IPS = general use/movie viewing and is a very noticeable difference with colors, contrast, and mainly viewing angle.

The equivalent with displays would be that it would stop powering on or start flickering.

Depends what monitor you are upgrading from.
Pixel density vs resolution.

Pixels are going to be smaller on a smaller panel with the same amount of pixels than a larger panel with the same amount of pixels.

This leads to larger pixel size on the larger panel.
In games a jagged edge around 3D object will be more noticeable on a 27" 1080p monitor than a 22" 1080p monitor.
This however can be corrected by the use of more AA than required on a smaller panel with the same amount of pixels.
This may require a powerful graphics card depending on the game.

As I have mentioned, some people notice jaggies more than other people.
Some people are just not bothered by them.

OP maybe focusing on panel size as priority.

I personally thought about going for a 24" monitor but I just could not justify the premium cost for the extra 1 inch for a monitor which otherwise had the exact same specs.

At the end of the day the smaller panel allows me to use less AA, there fore higher fps.
Although I still cake on more AA than it is necessary in some games.

I personally do not notice the difference between x4 and x8 AA in some games.
