HELP me to choose the best for CORE 2 DUO
i dont know what motherboard to buy, i think on a P5B Deluxe or a P5W DH Deluxe even a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 or DQ6, the memory would be an OCZ PC-6400 and a E6600 with 4 MB cache. All of this boards are good, i want to buy the best, i think the 975X chipset its the best but i dont know the differences between this and the P965, i want a motherboard that can hit 400 FSB with 1:1 with memory or more and if its possible without voltmods, i prefer not to do that things on the board. Thanks for your advices^^

As for a Core2Duo, the 6400 has the best price/performance, followed by the 6600. If you are an overclocker, you could likely get the 6400 near or above 6800 stock speeds. Here's a great tool at Tomshardware: http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu.ht...=433&chart=195 Edit - sorry, didn't realize you already had a 6600 - that would personally be my choice

get a gigabyte 965p-s3, it doesnt have solid caps like the ds3 but u can overvolt the cpu up to 2.0 and the fsb wall is 500 with the current bios. dude over at xtremesystems just hit 485 fsb on one with an e6400. the price performance ratio is awesome =D

now and the future
Guys I am in the same boat on choosing a mobo. I have an 805 currently and want a new motherboard. I have a ASUS P5VDC-X Pentium D 805 (Big Typhoon) with Patriot PC2-6400LL and can only run at 2.8 GHz stable. The bios does not have vcore control. I know it wants to go faster. I have read the 965 and 975 are getting sick OC's. I knew this board was just a stepping stone when I bought it. It supports AGP and DDR. Now I am looking for a Board i can push the 805 with and have support for Core 2 Duo down the road. Any suggestions? I need a new pci-e graphics card too, without breaking the bank of course.

I would say around $ 400.00 if i can get Core 2 Duo and 805 overclock features I'll drop 250 on the board and worry about the video card later. I heard the sappire x1800gto2 was nice.
