Weird Noise coming from GT 440

Hey guys,

I own a ASUS GT 440 1GB GDDR5, I bought it back in August of last year. A while, it started crashing on lots of games, so I RMA'ed the card. It came back recently, and now, it starts making this weird noise whenever I put a load on it (games, furmark). Once I close the game, the noise stops, and the fan begins slowly decelerating.

Does anyone know the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the fast reply.

My previous card (or the same) didn't do this before I RMA'ed it, and it's quite loud (louder than the fan).

Most do have this, some don't. If you Google the issue there are things that you can do to reduce it, but I always left it go and never had any issues.

Man you should hear how much my GTX470 whines though most of the whinetime I have headphones so it doesn't seriously matter.

try running with Vsync on. my old nvidia cards whined if the FPS went above 150 or so, which they often did in game menus and loading screens.

Yes, the vsync helps with that issue. My 5870 whines a lot when it outputs 1000 fps or so.

This problem same my HD4670 brand Dell

It's make noise like mustang shelby

I think because that fan has 4PIN connector. all my cards that has 4PIN connector makes noise tOo much

HD4670 512G DDR3 DEll
HD3870 512 GDDR4 VisionTake SO
HD4890 1GB GDDR5 XFX
GT240 1GB GDDR3

all this card makes noise when fan load 67+

As I try some cards which fan has 4PIN connector

9500GT fan load 100% + supper silent ( I bought cooler around 7$ from E-bay )
EVGA 9400GT fan load 100% but silent
GT220 BFG fan load 75% not really noise
HD4670 Sapphire fan load 75% but still great

but sometimes fan makes noise because it's time over

sorry for bad english

It's not the fan - when its running, but the GPU isn't in use, it doesn't have the noise.

EDIT: On another note - NCIX has a EVGA GTX 560 for $110 and a EVGA GTX 560ti for $160 - what do you guys think?

It's just coil whine, vsync should help get rid of it as said. My cards whine only in crysis on the loading screens where the fps is in the region of 1700-2000fps.

My card still whines in gameplay - even with vsync on...

My GTX 580 does this when doing Folding @ Home. It's so bad that it even gets through the sound card and is produced loudly through the speakers. Result was I had to give up on F@H with it.

Apparently, putting glue over the coils should stop this. However, if the choke is covered in a case, then you can't do this and you're stuck.

I'll do that when my warranty expires - see if they'll take a RMA for this.
