Asoka Debuts Industry’s Smallest, Lowest Power PLC Home Networking Adapters

Asoka Corporation, a pioneer in powerline communications (PLC) hardware and services, announced today its new PlugLink HD AV and PlugLink-ETH-500 adapters, the industry's smallest, lowest power powerline communications (PLC) home networking adapters. The adapters are the latest in Asoka's line of home networking solutions for delivering Digital Living Services to the home.

Using industry standard PLC technology, the adapters enable customers to create a high-speed local area network throughout the home by just plugging them into wall power sockets. A PlugLink home network is as simple as a wireless network, but with more reliable service because there are no intermittent wireless signals or "dead spots."

Measuring just 76x54x27 mm and drawing just 1.3 W of power, the PlugLink HD AV adapter creates a 200 Mbps backbone network and features a single Ethernet port for connecting to computers. It is ideal for distributing IPTV, on-demand video, online gaming, multimedia downloading, VOIP telephony or Internet streaming services to any room in the house.

Also measuring just 76x54x27 mm and drawing just 2.2 W of power, the PlugLink-ETH-500 creates a 500 Mbps backbone and provides dual Ethernet ports for users, and is ideal for connecting home entertainment centers where there is a requirement for multiple devices, such as TVs and game consoles, to be connected.

"These new PlugLink adapters give customers a convenient, easy-to-use home networking solution that is truly plug and play and up in running in minutes," said Danny Castellano, Asoka's vice president of marketing. "The smaller form factor has allowed us to reduce the cost of the device as well as the power consumption and we're excited to share this new design with our customers."

The new PlugLink adapters feature advanced 128-bit AES encryption to ensure data and content are protected while in transit on the PLC network. Users simply push the security button to "pair" the adapters and data encryption is set.

Asoka products are certified by UL, FCC, CE, RoHS, and CoC. In addition, Asoka devices support all relevant computer industry standards including IEEE 1901, IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3x, IEEE 802.3u and HomePlug AV.

The PlugLink HD AV and PlugLink-ETH-500 adapters are available today. For more information on the new PlugLink adapters, please visit this page.
