Valve confirms work on Source 2 engine

Valve boss Gabe Newell has confirmed the Half-Life studio is indeed working on a new iteration of its Source Engine reports CAG. Asked by visiting 4chan members if the company is working on 'Source 2', Newell replied (captured in the video below): "We've been working on new engine stuff for a while, we've just been waiting for a game to roll it out with." Asked if that meant an "entirely new engine" rather than a simple extention, the Valve boss replied: "yeah."

So, Half-Life 3/EP3 will most likely run on this upgraded Source Engine?

I'm a huge Half-Life fan... In fact I have bought every Half-Life game released to this date. Furthermore, I have bought every Valve game released to this date. However, I think it is time for Valve to move on to a new chapter. Stop drawing Half-Life out... Provide closure and bring us a new game that sets the bar as high as Half-Life did... It's time to move on. Finish EP3, and be done with it.
