AMD FX 8350 No Stock Issues

Just checked damn near every retailer in the UK and not a single one has any 8350's in stock, most of them say awaiting stock and have back orders for them. One company, CCL Online, actually wrote back and told me there were launch issues, and they couldnt give a specific date on when they would be in stock again. I did notice however that 8320's are readily available in a lot of these places.

Something I dont know about?

FX-8350 is a decent alternative to i5 3570K, and that i5 3570K is probably THE "enthusiast" chip. Now you can get the same sort of performance, for $50 less. Some places..only $20...but it's still $20. I am not surprised they are hard to find.

and with the big difference in stock clocks, between 8320 and 8350...it's hard for me to recommend the 8320 as a real alternative. I'd wait too.

I had considered briefly the 8320, but after some research on a few other forums, they are apparently just failed 8350 chips, and cant clock cpu or ram anywhere near as the numbers the 8350 hit.

Tell that to my 8320 rockin 4.0 ghz in an ESXi box. I know that's not THAT impressive, but for a 24/7 overclock it's decent.

I'm having the same problem here, as well.
Many local shops and retailers don't even have it listed, and in the usual regional online distributor's lists it was most frequently delayed from Oct 23rd to 31st and is now pushed back to Nov 8th, with no stock available since launch at all.
Thinking about a 8320 instead, which, oddly enough, is available in many places around here.

They are not failed chips. This is not new by no means.

It's a good chip with good pricing that is a drop in upgrade to a lot of people. Not surprising it sells well.

Basically - and it fits the AM3+ socket. <- Realized cdawall wrote drop in upgrade.

Still amazingly cheap for it's performance, like Trinity.

Gone at miy local retailer too. A bit surprised by the pricing, I'd thought they'll jack up the price on them to move the old 8100 series stock.

It is a possible alternative to the i5-3570K, and even rates quite a bit higher in CPU benchmarks. I wonder how they stack up against each other in single-threaded applications. However, I don't see where you get one for $170 or even $200 (they list for $219.99 at NewEgg) even if you could find one. I got very lucky and bought my i5-3570k for $199.99 during a one day unadvertised manager's special, but most people pay $120-$130 for one, and there seems to be an endless supply of the Intel CPUs. So I doubt AMD will discount the new chips if they prove popular, and low supply will keep prices high. Has anyone seen a good shootout review for these CPUs?

Some 8350's are showing up in-stock from a few sources thru Amazon.com (limited supplies)

Are there any reviews out on the FX-8320?

Still looking for a little more details specific to the 8320 (overclocking, power consumption (stock vs OC'd), etc..) Performance comparisons can be based on the 8350 at the same clocks but power consumption OC'd to 8350 levels is what I'm looking to check on....
