How good is AIDA64 for HD smart attributes?

Can someone with experience tell me how good this program is.

How about you do some experiments yourself? It's not rocket science to launch aida64 alongside some other software that reads SMART. And i'm pretty sure both results would be the same.

thanks I guess my next question is if it can detect possible hardware failure in a computer that suddenly has failed and you can't find the root?

That's up to you by running stress software on your GPU, CPU and RAM. Furmark, IBT, Memtest, etc.

AIDA64 will show you things like voltages, temperatures and things like that.

I think its accurate,

I tested IDE (native ide mode) vs AHCI (native ide off) vs AHCI (native ide on)

and IDE (native ide mode) is the fastest for my std HDD by random read (123mb/s vs 98mb/s vs 108mb/s) and avg. read access (14.48ms vs 14.90ms vs 14.90ms).

Isn't it meant to be the best hardware monitor out there? I bought it a while back and found it to be very good.

It just reads the SMART values from the HDD. The only difference between programs are how the info is presented.

It's good, I like Crystal Disk Info more though.
