PC Upgrade, What parts should i get?

Okay so i am planning a upgrade for my pc. Specs listed on this account are it's spec. It's a fairly good rig however i get some nasty lag-spikes when running basic tasks. I don't use it that often as i have a gaming laptop (i7, Nvidia 555m) I want a rig that can handle the hardware given to it.

Now i am a Computer Technician for a living but i am not up to date on whats out there in terms of hardware capability. I have a budget of £500 for:

A new motherboard.
Processor.
Ram.
Possibly a SSD\Hybrid HDD for the OS? (I have two old HDD and a 2tb one already)

I must admit i have never had a WiFi motherboard before but the room where this PC is at has never had a wired connection so i am stuck with adapters so a motherboard with WiFi capabilities (card or on-board) is a must. The processor i have my eye on is the i7 3770k, although i am sure that would be what most people would suggest. I want to move away from AMD.

CPU - £259.99
3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7 3770K 3.50GHz Socket LGA1155

MOBO - £146.99
ASUS P8Z77-V PRO Intel Z77 (Socket 1155)

Good choices, if you feel as though you need to save some funds.

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H Socket 1155 VGA DVI HDMI.. |...

3770k is a little cheaper at ebuyer but unsure on your locale
Intel Core i7 3770K 3.5GHz Socket 1155 8MB Cache.....

It does appear that the cpu is a tad cheaper - No wifi in it though, would you have a suggestion for a wifi card?

In upgrade mode myself. Ran across another post testing the i5-3570 and mentions performance differences between it and i7 3770.

newegg shows ~$80 difference between the two

Anything Linksys/Dlink in a USB adapter with a wifi antenna if you're planning a crossfire/sli build. If no cfire/sli, nearly anything in a PCI(-e) will do. WiFi is more dependent on the router/switch configuration used.

Have you considered using EoP..?Very reliable and works like a treat provided your router and pc are on the same circuit.
