Blue Screen keeps showing up - details inside
Hello guys,
thank you for your help in advance. I have a problem my computer keeps crashing with BSOD. No special moment, it happens almost randomly in matter of seconds. I reinstalled my OS (Win7 64bit ultimate) several times, I see the problem after installing SP1... I put here last occurence from Event log. 7 events in 8 seconds (I'm translating from my language so some names could be different then is usual):
Detailed events chronologicaly here: Code:

First I would test your memory. You can google some popular programs.
Then run something like superpi on each core ( or a multi-core version of a pi calculator) to test the CPU, though it is most likely not the issue. The thing is that if you reinstalled the OS, and assuming there are no driver / program conflicts, you are probably looking at a hardware issue of some sort.

Hi guys, sorry that I wasn't so responsive last days, I was busy enough.. Thank you all for opinions..
I ran the memtest according to all of you downloaded from here http://hcidesign.com/memtest/download.html Result = 0 errors.. If you have any better application to run memory test please provide me a link and options I should put in there. Thank you! I thought it would be great to put here a list of components my computer is made of, so here it is: - MOBO Intel DX79SI - CPU Intel i7-3820 @ 3.6GHz - GPU nVidia GeForce GTX 670 - Chipset Intel C600/X79 series chipset 6-port SATA AHCI Controller - HDD1 OCZ Vertex3 - HDD2 ST2000DM001-9YN164 - RAM Kingston 2x4GB DDR3 2400MHz CL11 HyperX XMP Predator Series (Those are placed in Slot 1 and slot 5, both Channel A, physically next to each other) I ran a health report too and this is the result: Code:

I just ran Memory Test x86 after reboot.. 2 passes = no errors.. so I assume it is not memory issue.
Another thing is the problem has started occuring diferently. Now the applications start to behave strangely. Some elements stop to appear (icons and taskbar disappear, chrome plugins stop working and whole maxed window shrinkens a bit leaving a little of background around which is only unchanged thing - which is very strange - and after a while nothing works, the BSOD appears). |

memtest without the OS running is much more involved in testing as it uses much more since the OS isn't blocking its usage in testing.
so you are running the memory at 2400 currently? Almost seems to me you need a touch more VTT/VCCIO voltage to get the CPU and the memory at that speed to play well together, especially if the memory alone tests fine. One last thing, are you on the latest bios from October, 0553?

When you installed your OS did you install your chipset drivers?
This looks like a driver/software issue. |

Right now the computer crashed after I wanted delete a file.. It stoped responding, all except my browser disappears and then boom = BSOD.. Never happened before.. I feel like more updates I get, more problems come.. It starts to crash everytime after SP1 is installed form Windows Update application..
Here is a picture of the BSOD, which is not much helpful, but it might give you a clue.. ![]() Sneekypeet: According to BIOS memories are running on 1333MHz...... very surprising for me.. I tried to overclock them to 2400MHz, computer won't even start.. can you describe how should I change their VTT/VCCIO so it works fine please? or it is matter of chipset? About the 0553 version of BIOS, answer is yes, I put it there before latest installation of OS.. The last thing is I am user, hacking computers was never my way, that's why I'm asking if the errors are big problem or just slight imperfection ![]() TheMailman78: After OS installation version 9.2.3.1022 from CD.. I checked Device Manager and details of Chipset members say from 9.2.3.1016 to 9.2.3.1018... the newest availible are 9.2.3.1023.. don't know what to think.. I tried few minutes ago installation of the newest drivers (1023), but the installation lasted for half second saying after all went well - I'm not sure about it.. Important THING! I just realized the crash happened sometimes in-game, leaving the sound bound jumping in short annoying loops (L.A. Noire), and sometimes the whole screen stuck leaving this buzzing sound and no movement (Red Orchestra 2). Here are the pictures of BIOS settings (didn't know how to get report of them): ![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you, guys! |

This problem is due to device drivers.
First Upgrade your Windows OS. Then Upgrade your Drivers. |

Thanks for your input Evan, I've downloaded Driver Robot Tool and this is the result:
Sound: 1 Critical Update High Definition Audio Device (I have ASUS Xonar Essence STX Audio Device bought later) System: 3 Critical Updates PCI Bus Intel 82801 PCI Bridge - 244E High Precision event timer What is a decent free tool to update my drivers please? UPDATE: I've downloaded update tool Device Doctor, which is said as free and it found 8 drivers needed to be updated.. but it offered me old version of chipset (9.2.3.1011 from April 2009). Hi there,
really looks like a driver problem ~ make sure: 1 - BIOS is up to date. 2 - Mainboard Drivers are up-to-date! 3 - after that the rest of your hardware-drivers. For 1 und 2 just use: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...p+Board+DX79SI Hope that helps, Bbig |

Hi,
Did you try disabling the XMP settings? I see that the "Performance Memory Profiles" setting is now set to "automatic", perhaps set the setting to "disabled" and see it helps. An other possibility is that the OCZ Vertex 3 SSD is causing the BSODs. What you can do is either update the firmware of the SSD or rma the SSD (e.g. it's faulty). Try to install the OS on a different hard drive and see if you are still getting BSODs. |

isolate each component, verifying that it is stable... having a second working system helps.
more than likely it is the RAM... (and run memtest from a linux install disk.) so try other RAM to rule out the RAM you have now... ) increase the cpus voltage... (i had a strange BSOD on my amd 1100t that is oc'd to 4Ghz... (it previously was stable under prime95 for 42 hours... (but i was going for the lowest voltage that it would be stable at). SO i just increased the cpu voltage one step and the BSOD disappeared (i did not recheck to see if it is still 42 hour stable...i am assuming it is) since your problems are grave... time to try the odd stuff... may be it is a boot sector virus. get a new harddrive (or one that has had the first 256 bytes zeroed out... thus erasing the MBR. (Unfortunately that requires a disk editor...) then reset everything to stock... and install a completely clean install of win7... or install unbuntu (i would suggest mythbuntu... but any new version will do)... to check to see if it will install and run... if it does run, get prime95 for linux, and run it under the same conditions (overclock etc) that you are using for windows... then install the Proprietary graphic drivers (amd or nvidia) and download "gputest 0.4" from 3dguru... (it's furmark for linux)... to test the graphics card. if all that works, any your previous windows install is still BSODing then you know it is a possible virus. yes, this is alot of work. TL;DR ... Reset everything to stock...get a new HDD(or a totally erased HDD... zeroing first 256 bytes does the trick).. and clean install win7... |

Hi TC-man, I thing you got the point! I've downloaded again all drivers from Intel website and after many restarts and few BSODs, the pop-up window showed up saying that OCZ Vertex Driver was installed - that could be it!
Now I am trying to restarting again and again to try if it crashes or not, and knock on the wood, it works so far!! I had to forget about this particular driver when I was downloading all drivers few months ago at first installation... So awesome! ![]() THANK YOU ALL!!! ![]() I'll try testing it now and if the BSOD persists, I'll come back here and continue with your suggestion redeye, thank you, it looks like good idea!
