Scythe Apsalus Liquid CPU Cooler Detailed
Scythe released the Apsalus entry-level liquid CPU Cooler (model: APSALUS3-120). Based on an Asetek platform, the pre-assembled (maintenance-free), closed-loop cooler uses an exposed copper base with pump assembly, joined the the 1U 120 mm radiator that packs the reservoir, which is ventilated by a 120 mm Scythe-made fan. The base measures 72.3 x 72.3 × 27.3 mm, the radiator 120 x 150 x 27 mm (excluding the fan), and the coolant pipes are about 326 mm long. The cooler supports all modern CPU socket types, including LGA2011, LGA115x, LGA1366, FM2/FM1, and AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2. It is priced around 6,980¥ ($84).

yet another Asetek units. there's nothing bad about those except some manufacturers bundle terrible fans with these AIOs.

Yet another closed loop with a different sticker. *sigh*
The only one i'm looking forward is that Zalman one that doesn't have the standard radiator but sort of has CNPS style fins array through which water loop goes instead of heatpipes.

If i were considering a fresh new build, I'd get this over the rest, simply due to the fact i might not have to replace the fan because of incredible noise. Or at least I'd like to think the fan on this one is good.

The problem with that zalman is that some of the hot air is going to pushed inside the case from the sides of that heatsink.

You would think scythe would use one of their fans, maybe even the infamous gentle typhoon. If it is one of their fans I don't recognize it out of this line up.

For my Antec 620 I ended up using a different fan because the woosh sound it made was way too loud.. and this is in an Antec 900 case with 5 other fans lol.

Yes, everybody cross on all in one coolers.
That was predictable when H70 show up. I love Scythe fans, their GT is from 2008 best cooler for PC, special for radiators if you look silence and performance. I would love to see revision of that fans, little faster with exactly same blades only to change frame to look modern and black wires like on corsair fans. This cooler look OK only I think need different type and two fans, GT example. Last edited by Vlada011; Dec 8, 2012 at 05:20 AM. |
