Far Cry 3 Promotion & Steam

I just got a promo code for Far Cry 3 with a new 7870. With this promo version, will I be able to tie it to my Steam account for use on multiple computers? Just want to know before I redeem and have to go through hoops to move from one PC to another.

Ok, another question with Steam... I've got an XP system and 2x Win7 64bit. When you install through Steam, does it autodetect, you tell it the OS version or what?

... I've never installed Steam on the Win7 OS!

just go to games tab at the top, and click on Activate a Product on Steam. It will then ask for the key and tell you what game you are trying to gain access to. If it all checks out, click away and install it.

It is a Steam key that works like every other Steam key. Register it and use it on any PC you have Steam and the game installed on.

That sounds like a pretty good offer you got there, Sasqui.

Just activate that key and enjoy.

The key I got from AMD was eight letters in total, it does not work on steam but did work as a promotion code to redeem far Cry 3 at no cost. I then received another key that worked on uplay and the game is downloading but it will not work in steam. I am not sure how to activate it on steam.

AMD's promotional page mentions steam but is not very clear.

Damn, I redeemed the code on Ubisoft's site as that was where I was referred to, so I have to play through UPlay directly. (People don't know when I'm playing and I can't join people's games off steam).

Reading the fine print, it does mention Steam though but only if you buy two cards
"Get a Game Key for a free download of FARCRY 3 (PC Game), and a 20% discount for Medal of Honor Warfighter Digital Deluxe (PC Game) accessed through Ubisoft® and Origin® online gaming platforms when you buy an AMD Radeon™ HD 7770 GHz Edition, AMD Radeon™ HD 7850 or AMD Radeon™ HD 7870 Graphics Card. Get a Game Key for a free download of FARCRY 3 (PC Game), Hitman: Absolution (PC Game) and a 20% discount for Medal of Honor Warfighter Digital Deluxe (PC Game) accessed through Steam®, Ubisoft® and Origin® online gaming platforms when you buy two identical products, AMD Radeon™ HD 7770 GHz Edition, AMD Radeon™ HD 7850 or AMD Radeon™ HD 7870 Graphics Card."

Is this a result of their "competing" service?

It's a promo sheet / scratch off code for full version of FarCry3 (full) and Metal of Honor Warrior (Demo/20% off)

I'm PISSED! Scratched off the coupon code, redeemed and got an email for the codes. The code for FarCry3 was blank in the email (though it had great instructions to redeem the code THAT WAS BLANK!) The one for Medal of Honor was there... that one is 20% off the game, so I don't give a crap about it... CRAP!

The added cherry on top...is that it probably won't be for Steam either.

If your downloading it thru uPlay that is where it's gonna be. There is no way to use uPlay codes on Steam and vice versa their using different key systems.

I mean I would have course liked to have had mine on Steam with the 150 so other games but G2play had the better deal so uPlay it is. I mean even on Steam you launch it and just opens uPlay anyway

The FarCry 3 code is NOT FOR STEAM. You must "order" the software at the Ubisoft site and enter the promo code in the cart. That gets you a digital download and a product key from Ubisoft for FarCry 3

And like any Ubisoft game, BACK UP YOUR DIGITAL DOWNLOAD! Unlike Steam, they only let you re-download it for a LIMITED time! You lose the file later on? Say goodbye to your FarCry 3 installer unless you find one somewhere else that actually works with your product key.

So basically you cannot buy a key for Ubisoft games like you can with Steam or Origin?

If you go to your Steam account, FarCry 3 is available for purchase there.

But I'm curious too if the promo code (which they never sent me!!!) is valid on Steam.

So does steam let you Keep games in their Library forever(barring unforeseen circumstance)?

Also , is there a limit to the number of times you can re-install your game( on the same PC) ? My Strictly Gaming PC lacks a large quantity of storage space. And I tried to Find this on google, but keep coming up Short.

Your Steam games are tied to your account forever. You can re-install as many times you want and on as many computers you want. As a sidenote I played Borderlands 2 on LAN with my son on 2 PCs with the steam game.

with the SAME download? e.g. installing the Same Purchased copy of the Game on Two different machines? Or with two separate Copies of the Steam Game?

Basically You'd Both need to be logged in @ the same time to the same account? right?

Short of installing it on the second PC, is there any tricks to this, or is it just installation?

I'd like to install GTA4 on my Room mates PC so we Could LAN.
