Launch Of Intel Haswell Reportedly Delayed Till June

More Haswell news today. ‘Haswell’ is the name of Intel’s next-generation processors as you guys know by now. Last week we already we reported some of the key details of Intel’s Haswell and Broadwell platforms, but perhaps the most enthralling part of the report was that it was scheduled to launch in April 2013. A new documents located by VR-Zone, shows that Intel is planning to delay the launch of its Haswell processors from April 2013 to May and June 2013.

It will likely reveal them at Computex 2013.

The slide also mentions the sales of the processors to end-user will not commence until after 2nd June. The leaked slides lists the debut of five Core i7 series desktop processors and eight Core i5 series desktop processors. Haswell will also bring new motherboards in the market including Intel Z87, H87, Q87, Q85 and B85 for the desktop segment.

Haswell mobile will bring Intel QM87, HM87 and HM86 motherboards and seven Core i7 series processors, including 4 new models listed below:

Core i7-4702MQ
Core i7-4702HQ
Core i7-4700MQ
Core i7-4700HQ


Initially only Core i7 series will be launched for notebooks. Intel Haswell desktop will debut along with the Haswell mobile line-up

Probably just to give OEM's time to clear out SB and IVB CPU's they have kicking around--Intel has done this the past two launches.

Too much software is not using the power we got. There is not much of a demand for more processing power.

True. 90% of the tasks 90% of the users are doing are related to internet activity. Any mobile toy can do this.

Cloud computing and dumbing down the tasks is ticking away at the last 10%. An example of a tasks getting dumbed down is games. Mobile games are making a lot of money right now and the mobile game market has yet to reach its potential; it is still a baby market.

Mobile games will always be a seperate entity. People have still continued to buy PC Games and PC Hardware, and the pace is actually increasing year over year. The reason mobile games appear to be exploding is because smartphones are becoming more accessible (you can get one for free with a new contract I believe) which means a broader audience. It will hit a limit sooner than people think, because I know a lot of people that just do not see the point of a smartphone or spending money on goofy iOS/Android/WP7 games.

We are saying the same thing in a sense. I wasn't saying it would go away but that it is going to diminish what is left, tick away at the last 10%. I think there is quite a bit left in the mobile market. Mobile is absorbing other markets.
