Need some info on a mobo...

Been slowly building up an htpc for a client. He's very fussy. He wants a media center, but keeps getting me to buy him higher end gaming parts. The fractal design case was a good start, but he got the Silverstone Evolution 850... Excellent of course, but a darn powerhouse for an htpc. I tried to discuss AMD apus with him, but he'd have none of that. So now I go intel i3 sb with him, his first mobo he liked was the gene v... arg. He has no interest in gaming, or ocing, so I think I sold him on this for about the same price:
http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=69...S&promoid=1033 Seems like a good candidate. It has all the video outs he needs. I think it's actually a bit much for what he needs still, but don't see anything else he'd be happy with on ncix.
Oh, and he has an older 47 in flatscreen that can only do 720.

Why not an i3-3225? It has the HD4000 IGP. That Silverstone is madness for what he needs.
Check this motherboard:

For an HTPC it really dosent matter as long as you have all the expansion slots you need on it,try to convince him to get a cheaper one.

If you spend $200 for a htpc mobo you may as well pair it with an 3770k and a 7970 ... gaming htpc.

I also informed him that the gene doesn't have built in video, so he needs a video card now too. What is a cheap blueray capable fanless worth now?

direct said client here so we can explain to him why hes full of shit lol
850Wat PSU and a GENE V wow talk about overkill
if you are gonna bother with the gene then talk him into a 3750k and a Mid-high range gpu might as well go all the way

Well, maybe he wants to be 4000K ready so consider OneMoar's suggestion.

actually high end gaming parts is ok, maybe he thinks that if the hardware could run game smoothly it would be great if he run for multimedia.
yeah if we talk about cost and performance that needed by multimedia and gaming, its kinda different
and since its your client, i guess you could suggest him some alternative that could meet what he needs but finally the money and the hardware that chosen is depend to him. just make sure he got best hardware so he wont regret the money that spent

if you read his explanation, the client is pushing for the better hardware.

Yeah, he likes the idea of the high end hardware.. I had to order the Gene. He feels the heatpipe cooling on it will keep the mobo cooler, so it will be quieter ect. He has a rather bizarre concept of htpcs... but what can you do. Plus he wants to return my titanium card and not have to buy a new sound card yet. The way he's going, I might as well tell him to just go to an i5 cpu, and get a graphics card. Think it might be time to introduce him to pc gaming.....

next thing you know , your assembling a Full water loop, for a "low-mid level" htpc. lol. Had the same situation here. Good Luck, atleast we get to build them, right?
Have fun man.

Well, couldn't talk him into an i5, oh well. He is on a low fixed income, so I understand that. I do this for people who don't have money, for basically nothing. The local computer stores would rip them off horribly. I think he's been eating like potato chips for the last 2 months just to get what he has. I can relate, do it all the time myself! He really wanted that gene v though, so I had to get it. Long as he's happy, so am I. Gotta make the client happy always.....

Did you at least talk him into a 400-500w PSU? If he has a low income that's more of a reason to make the most of his money.
