XSPC res/top leaks and killed pump.

Hi guys.

Few weeks back i noticed my Liang pump acting weird. It was going on and off.
I checked my setup and noticed water leaking from the reservoir in my pump.
Pretty lucky my pump is on the bottom of the case. But anyhow i disassembled my setup and noticed hairline cracks in the res.




Also i took the cover of the pump and i could see the water damage.



So i contacted HighFlow here in Holland. They said to me that i should contact XSPC directly. So i did.
I asked them if they could check it out. Even made a Youtube clip to show them.
Directly they said ok we will replace the reservoir.

Now the stupid part. I told them that i thought the faulty reservoir was the reason my pump broke. Especially when you make a product that belongs on that pump!
They claimed because the pump was not their brand they could not do anything for me.
I replied that was kinda dumb and it was not very customer friendly from them. They could easily tell HighFlow to give me credit for a new pump as well.
I told HighFlow about my problem and they also claimed their hands were tied.

So my question is, Does anyone has experience with these kinda problems?
I feel they are running away from their responsibilities. Or am i the one that sees this wrong?

This is a problem which (in many cases) is ALL TOO common today. Companies, "shirking" responsability @ any point they see an option to do so. I'm sure they checked to be sure that they are "Legally" clear from responsability , and @ that point said"F- it".IME,,corsair, has done something similar, as well as Asrock. Keep on them,,as long as it's with in reasonable limit's, I wouldn't stop calling/emailing them, and making a "fuss" until they made good on the damaged pump.Worst case, they DON'T replace it, and your in the same place you are now.I've had entire motherboard's replaced due to My persistence(Bought one @ Microcenter,checked it out on the way home,,But forgot to look under the CPU socket cover...Month and a half L8R,,opened it up to find it had bent pins).They claimed that there was "No way to prove that I didn't do it".....I told them that I've been building PC's for a long time, and I'd know if I DID do it.But I could tell by the way that they said it e.g."there's NO way to prove" that they were being scummy. So I kept pushing,and pushing.(they decided it was easier to replace it , then to deal with Me any longer)

I guess it depends if they were under warranty or not. If not, they are not responsible. If they are, they should do something about it, but each company is not responsible for the other part, even if it was designed for that part. In this case, you have to contact each company directly.

If you are more persistent, you might get better results.

There is also a good chance that after being cleaned, that the pump is in working condition. Water does not necessarily ruin all electronics. The pump going on and off seems to have been a contact issue, not a power issue.

Yeah i felt it was going that way. The thing that irritates me the most that you do your best to wright the story then they reply with some lame ass answer like they did not even read it.
I really do feel that they should credit me for it. If it were only the res i would have bought another one and that would be it.
It costs like €25. But the pump costs €80 including shipping. Not that i can't pay that.
Also stupid they say if the pump was their brand then they would replace it.

Unfortunately, most companies do not accept responsibility for collateral damage from their products. Almost ALL agreements and warrantees contin that language.

So, if your toaster catches fire from a defect and burns your house down, the toaster manufacturer will not offer to replace your house. Then the lawyers get involved...

You're probably SOOL, but as 3870x2 mentions, persistence may pay off.

Haha. Drop your computer out a second story window first... you may get a full upgrade.

Honestly though, insurance companies suck when it comes to computer damage... first hand experience from a lightning strike at my old house. They paid about 1/2 of what the computer originally cost, but at least that meant a good discount on an upgrade from a 385/25 to a 486/66

If the armature/coil of the pump is still intact, you can swap out the pump's PCB with a DIYINHK PCB. This way, a rebuilt pump is better than the original.

If leaks in WCing don't kill the computer, dust bunnies will on air cooling. Bummer that users must look over the equipment often to know things are not going bust.

With your replacement pump cover, do not over tighten the screws. Just make them snug. The goal is to have the oring atop of the pump housing to make a compression seal. Nothing more or less. This way, the stress of heat and over tightneing will not allow cracks to happen again.

How can i check if it still ok? Thanks for your advice btw.
Also i checked ebay but those pcb's are no longer for sale. Any idea where to get them?

Edit: Contacted the seller. And he is willing to sell me one. I already removed the pcb from the armature/coil. Went pretty smooth.
