LAG, the GT3 car started after the 650m car! LOL
Seriously though, at least they showed actual gameplay vs the previous Skyrim camera panning shots. There's no perceivable lag there really. Haswell's going to be a big hit for gamers that want affordable gaming LTs I think, but I don't feel there's much reason for desktop gamers to get excited about it. Seems I always time my purchases wrong. I was hoping to upgrade my CPU, MB and RAM in a year or so, but by then Intel will probably have switched to BGA solder-in CPUs. Maybe I'll just find a sub $200 deal on a 2500k and call it good enough. |

The highest end Haswell in a desktop VS a laptop with no AA and only 1080?

The PCB space and production/end user cost alone make the GT3 a much better value too. |

I think with Haswell and after the next gen of AMD APU's I'll be looking to zip up my wallet in regards to video cards altogether.
These companies have cost me 1000's upon 1000's of dollars...and that's just for water blocks! Good riddance... .LC |

How cool it is roughly as fast as a desktop GTX 550 Ti/5770...

I managed to hit between 950Mhz and 1.1Ghz without any work on the integrated of three A8's I built. They are just getting better and better at it too.

We'll see how it actually performs when they have to stuff it in a laptop with crappy laptop cooling and aren't able to run it flat out with no worry about keeping the CPU/GPU in a specific power and thermal envelope. In this demo their running Haswell in a tower chassis with a giant tower heatsink on it to keep it cool. Come talk to me when they have it running in an actual laptop chassis.

^^^I was assuming that people would realize this, but I guess that means that they have to read AND comprehend.

i hear ya newtekie1, but none the less this is still a major advancement and improvement on integrated. for the higher end integrated you'll actually be able to say, yes you can do gaming with this integrated gpu. Even if it is at low-med settings. I had intel HD 2000 on my laptop and i can only game 2006 games at medium at best and low res, and newer game(besides torchlight 2) i can't game unless its absolutely low and 720p or lower resolution.

So help me understand.
1) Intel drivers are notorious for crashing (on their iGPUs at least), of which I've got plenty of experience. 2) Haswell's great CPU leap forward is to integrate a GPU that can compete with mobile GPUs in one performance test. Forgetting that the thermal envelope of the haswell CPU is demonstrably (see the tower cooler) higher thermal output. 3) Intel is still holding back on the AA with haswell, which even a mobile GPU of the current generation can apply to some extent. I'm getting the distinct feeling that the CPU maker Intel is feeding us crap and calling it fois gras. AMD APUs have been capable of better graphics performance for a couple of years now. Intel is getting on the bus late, and telling us their moderate offering is in fact amazing. All I have to say is that my desktops run off of Intel processor, with separate GPUs. My mobile tech runs off of AMD APUs. The budget constrained desktops I build have an APU at their heart. Intel hasn't shown me anything that might change that formula yet, least of all a stacked demo that visually indicates comparable performance in an easy test.

Also, the notebook they are comparing it against is actually an Ultrabook, which has even tighter constrains for cooling.
