NVIDIA Lowers Price of GeForce GTX 680
In a bid to tackle post-X'mas slump in sales, particularly affecting its low-volume high-end products, NVIDIA reportedly concerted price-cuts for its single-GPU flagship graphics card, the GeForce GTX 680, in Europe. Prices of a Palit-made GTX 680 card across vendors dropped to 399€, from its X'mas shopping season peak-price of 432€, and normal price of 420€. Another premium card by EVGA saw similar price cuts, settling down at 420€. In other parts of the world, similar price-cuts are reported. An Extreme Edition card by ZOTAC, sold in China, dropped in prices by 799 RMB, settling down to 3999 RMB.

Maybe next price drop will be on GTX 670, below 300 EUR price tag, specially Nvidia reference versions.

About time Nvidia, wouldn't mind going GTX 670 SLI if the price is right

I went from two 570's to two 7950's as an upgrade because it was cheaper than two 670's.

Lowest price I've seen for 680's is around £360. They really need to drop below £300 to be a viable upgrade from my 580.

EDIT: I've not checked the GTX670 prices in a while.. I just looked on the egg and PNY has there GTX670 for $339.99 with a $40 MIR = $299.99. It seems the GTX670's are dropping as well.

New GPU generations typically double "performance". (A mix of outright rendering-power and power consumption). We are half-way through a GPU generation. Prices should be down 20% not 5%. This tiny shaving on the prices won't make stock move.

399€ or $533 USD... they better find more than that! And why the GTX670 has always been the better place to drop your money.
Sure it seems a little late now, but this might have to do with AMD. Who from here on out will slowly start letting 79XX pipeline dwindle down, with ever subtle deals here and there, however not to upset the current price structure. AMD need to maintain 7970 Ghz pricing at about $380 to insure when Sea Island comes at an MSRP of $450 it’s right in line for the market. Nvidia see the need to align to that in the next few months or GTX 680 will be marginalized in March if still holding to a $450-480 the current US pricing |

As Mindweaver says, my 570 at 800 Mhz does everything I need at 1050. All this generation was way overpriced. There is no game out there that cannot be played with a GTX 570 at even highest settings on my resolution. If things go well this year for me I might get a 770 (hopefully at a price which reflects the slump of PC business).

I'm betting they could sell these things at half price and still make a profit.

Well ofc, the 680 was specifically developed to be this generation's high end and next generation's low-end. See also: G92.

Don't have the game but anyway there are lots of games that can make use of more VRAM. That does not mean they are unplayable at high settings. I bet there are far more cards with less VRAM than those with more than 1280MB in use and games are made to be sold. Given what's happening today in tech world I'm surprised that people still buy 400 Euro cards. Or maybe they're not?

I ended up getting two 7970ghz edition vapor x's for the same price as two 670s. . . Nv has needed price cuts for far too long hence such poor xmas sales

The prices need to drop more for the GTX 670! Hopefully soon Nvidia will release the new series of card and then the prices will drop!
