E2180 VS 651 Need help!

http://www.techpowerup.com/cpudb/335..._4_HT_651.html

VS

http://www.techpowerup.com/cpudb/847...ore_E2180.html

The max usage of the cpu is Battlefield 2 multiplayer, youtube, dvd movie on a 8600GT hdmi at 1080P.

Single core 3.4 2m cache or duo core 2.0 1m cache ? Both have same "nm" size.

I am not able to overclock on this board I think.

Its a no brainer - go for the e2180. Those little beasts overclock like crazy, if the bios is locked maybe you could try a software solution like setFSB? You could easily get it to 2.6-2.8 GHz on the stock cooler.

It's an Acer mobo made by Intel so not really a good overclocker and the bios is locked.

thats a real shame, I have seen most E2180's get to 3.5Ghz with a decent board and heatsink

but its still better than that damned P4

In this case due to the difference in architecture, even single threaded apps on the Pentium Dual core will be very close to the performance of the Pentium 4 evenwith the massive difference in clock. Don't forget the energy savings, better threaded performance, etc.

KainXS there's a good chance you could just BESL mod overclock the 2180 :3

Is this a question?

Netburst has been considerbly slower per clock when the core-series architecture came out reducing the pipeline from something like 36 stages down to 14 stages. All in all, it doesn't really matter if you can overclock or not, the E3180 is your best bet. Never go with the netburst chip.

Isn't the e2180 way ahead of the 651? I figured it was like comparing a 2180 to an i5.

It can but not really the best route to go for a few reasons, such as resistance and probably a few others I'm not thinking about right now.
