Is it my Adapter or Router?

Hello all. I have a bit of a problem. Occasionally my internet will simply hang. It wont DC but it will just fall to about nothing and then 10 seconds later will pick back up and be fine. A couple of months ago I bought some crappy little wireless adapter off of Ebay from China for like $6.00. Already I am sure that's the problem but would like some other opinions. My xbox 360 which is plugged into the router via ethernet cable, never has any problems.

So is it the wireless portion of the router? Or is it the cheapo wireless usb adapter?

Thanks!

Without more info, i'd say the adapter. Try a netgear, Linksys or Dlink all are decent brands, avoid no name adapters support is non existant

I can't even tell you the name of the adapter. It's from China is all I know haha. As far as the router it is a D-Link.

I'd agree with Bo$$. It seems to be adapter. Next time be careful with buying from China. DON'T buy the cheapest things. I think even the Chinese won't use them.

Want a cheap but reliable brand? Try TP-Link.

Swap the adapter, you don't need to spend loads, just make sure it's not uber cheap and has some sort of branding to it.

TP-Link, Sitecom anything really!

Well guys I am not so sure it is the adapter anymore!

Yesterday I was was playing my 360 and I would get HORRIBLE lag for about 10 seconds and then it would be gone. This happened every 5-10 minutes or so. That is connected via ethernet cable into the router. So is it the router after all?

Is it possible to disconnect your adapter it is possible it could be disrupting the conection. Otherwise your internet is the issue
