Intel Xeon x3380 processor and DDR2 Ram

Does anyone have some old DDR2 ram they don't want. I need some for a file server and the ram in my old quad core died. I'm also looking for a Xeon x3380 for the file server because its very slow with its pentium D processor.

EDIT: Only need a Xeon now, got 6gb from [Ion] =D

I don't know if I have any of those. I do have some 5100 and maybe 5300 series though.

May be over your budget, but odditory over at Hardforum has a socket 1156 server system for sale, including an x3440, a supermicro x8sil board and some ecc ram. Be a very nice system for running esxi with a few VMs on it.

It's a server so im leaning towards a xeon processor. I also use it for crunching because its always on, would a xeon get more ppd or a c2d?

There's essentially no difference between a Xeon X3380 and a C2Q Q9650 (apart from 0.13GHZ clock speed, whoop).

Yep, no point in getting a xeon over a Core 2 Quad, they both use the same silicon. The X3380 is so expensive because it is the highest clocked Quad-Core 775 processor ever released. But a QX9650 can be had for $100 less, has an adjustable multiplier, and is the exact same processor as an X3370 performance wise.

You're forgetting the QX9770 at 3.2GHZ

I think he is looking for something along the lines of a Xeon X3220. Basically a Q6600 in Xeon form.

62 USD sound good? This is on ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Xeon-P...item35c3810c67

Edit: Sorry, just realized that you're in Canada. If that's not a problem than this is still a good price, otherwise the only world wide shipper has it for 130 USD.

...because he asked for a Xeon. I'm just giving him options. I personally would just get the cheapest skt775 Core 2 chip you could find.

Damn, I knew I forgot one. I always just kind of ignored the QX9770 because of how expensive it is.
