No its off. I found the problem... appearantly its the core affinity. God its incredible how pc gaming is more complex than console gaming...

everytime I install a new game I always have to toy around with the following until I get decent performance:

-vsync (off on forced d3d... etc)
- Resolution (refresh rate)
- Hyperthreading, on vs off
- .ini tweaking...

crazy stuff

so just one question: I got a quad core with hyperthreading, which cores are the virtual ones again? ...

#1, 3, 5, 7 are the virtual cores.. I'm pretty sure. (I don't think Intel has changed the order) If you're just doing mostly gaming on your computer right now, it may be a good idea to turn hyperthreading off in the bios.

I'm wrong 4-7 are virtual cores.

well I did pay 300$+ for this CPU and it's hyper threading features... had I bought a 180$ i5 with no ht I might consider this as an option...

Hyper threading does help in quite a few other things I do on my PC... but yeah, I'll try turning it off to see if it solves the problem.

yes, assassin's creed games are so fun to play, but so badly optimized indeed.

It's crazy how in console ports... you look one way and you get a perfect 60 fps, and you look the other way, and BaNG! your fps drops by half. and it isn't because of view distance and LODs... it's all because of poor GPU/CPU optimization (threading ant whatnot...)

so I tried turning off HT, and it doesn't completly fix the problem... Surprisingly, when I set the priority to "real time" in task manager... it helps quite a lot... now I'm trying to eleminate my stupid frame drops... when looking @ a dense tree line...

*** How can I get the game to always start with the "real time" priority in task manager" ?? ***

I lowered everything, and I do gain a 6fps increase avg... but still get unacceptable FPS drops to 32fps (should never happen ... when considering the fact that I have an i7cpu and 2x gtx 670...)

what's the name of the fix? I typed in google "assassin's creed 3 boston fix" ... and I find youtube videos that have nothing to do with your file... and forum threads that are as pointless...

I typed in the name of the file u linked me in google, and I get non-sense results again...

Do you remember "where" you got that file?

Turn off your power saving features, make sure your CPU always running full speed, that's how I deal with stuttering in this game.

When I play this game with AMD Cool n' Quiet enabled, I got stuttering and choppy gameplay.
I can't find the solution, but one day all those stuttering and choppiness gone.
Checking my system and I found that my WCG BOINC client is running on the background (I forgot to turned it off, and this is meaning that 90% of the time my CPU running at full speed).
So I go to BIOS, turned off Cool n' Quiet and no stuttering and choppy gameplay anymore.

Also try to set your Anti-aliasing and AF from NVIDIA Control Panel, also make sure that your settings override any in-game AA and AF settings.

Oh, assuming that you bought your game legally then that "Boston fix" is not what you think it is, trust me, I know
