Gfx card upgrade (noob)
Hey guys
I'm looking for an upgrade for my current gfx card: XFX 5850 (this one: http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...Z6aQvZuJ9U0psd) I have this case: http://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Ar...U8?ref=prid-20 There is basically no room in the case for a bigger card than the one i've got. any suggestions? Thanks. |

All midrange cards should fit, even top end cards, just look for cards where the cooler doesnt overhang the PCB. Looks like 300mm clearance almost, and your cards is about 250mm long.
Most online stores will have dimensions within the spec sheet. Your other specs?

What is your processor?
Well if you want to be super safe, assuming your cards is 250mm, plus an inch, is almost 275mm. So with your budget, gpu's with smaller pcb's would range from 650 to 660ti, and HD 7750 to 7870. I'll check around for high end cards with smaller pcb's.

7950's seem to have PCB's above 280mm, I did however find some GTX 670's on newegg with PCB's waaaay below 275mm with reference PCB's and coolers.
MSI GTX 670 EVGA GTX 670's Theyre at the top of your budget though.

To be safe, stay below 270mm, if your measurements are correct, based upon your current card size and remaining gap.

HANG ON!
'The interior only allows for graphics cards with up to 260 mm length' AMD wise you can look into the 7870's, I will continue my search for 79xx series with pcb's less than 260mm

Processor will do ok, and motherboard will cope just fine. PSU seems legit enough as well.
