What would be a reasonable price for GeForce GTX Titan?
With Titan released, we are wondering at what price point people see it? This doesn't mean you'd have to buy it for that much. Maybe, what would you have priced it for if you were NVIDIA?

$799, seeing as how it under-performs a GTX 690, yet is still close to it.
I'll stick with my $200 (price after I sold the games it came with) Sapphire 7950 that Oc's to 1200 core though. |

Around the $600 mark considering the price of a 7970GHz Edition and the 20-30% performance increase.

I think the price is fair actually. It's a lot, but it is a beast of a card.

GTX Titan should have been GTX 680, a $550-ish product. NVIDIA can very much sell this card at that price.

Undercut the competition and
all the way to the bank. Make them drop out and then have the market to myself. Then I can take it easy and price my products for a nice gain with no competition.![]() Unfortunately some dummy thought a $499 at most $549 GPU was worth $999 |

yeah if we talk about high end card, maybe price is not on the 1st list but performance, many enthusiast would pay more for top performance so price is not a big deal

With that all said, Titan is an example of the exorbitant amount of money nVidia charges for their cards. AMD has nothing to fear because even if some Titans do sell, most people are looking for a bargain, not a $1k USD price tag. Hell, most people don't even spend more than 1k on their computer! (I'm talking average user, not the average TPU user...) It should have been 550, but considering where it stands in the lineup, I would say 650-700 is reasonable but no more. Honestly, it's too much power if you're only going to drive one display IMHO.

I voted $700. In the UK it is Ģ840. I would pay up to Ģ700 for it inc water block.
I know Nvidia can't sell it cheaper though because it has full compute capability and they cannot piss off their HPC clients (i know it's missing certain required functions for top level HPC). I just dl'd the AMD 13.2 (6) betas and so far so good. It's this i really dont get. It's NOT a limited card and even then, despite it's compute powers the GCN architecture still outplays it in some compute tasks. It IS an amazing card - no argument. Best single GPU in the world to date. But when you price something so far above it's actual value - it becomes a folly. If the GTX 690 didn't exist, I could understand the price, maybe. A lot of reviewers are saying it's designed primarily for system builders to put in boutique, small form factor cases. The inference is it's not for the plebs or commoners. The irony is buying one makes no sense. It get's beaten too much to be called the best option. Buying two though is where it makes sense. So i say if you're going to buy Titan, but two. Only then will it pay off and be the most stable and fastest multi gpu set up in town.

$1000 is a good number for me. They need to have the ability to price their highest product at any price point they wish, otherwise it will signify the start to the race to the bottom. The graphics card industry is starting a slow but long decline, price stagnation is just going to finish them faster.
So what about the average user? Plenty of graphics card from the 7770/650 to 7850/670 which provides a lot of value for money while maintaining the profit margin for both companies. Do realise that if they are going to sell Titan at $550 then their next generation of graphics pricing will be handicapped. Take i7 920 for example. Released in late 2008, for an "affordable" (in the loose sense) price of less than $300, many are still using it now in 2013. Still plenty powerful enough for usual tasks, many users have been delaying upgrades even when the 3570K is at an attractive price of $230 in Newegg (lower with discounts), or even $99 in specific 2500K sales. |

In the UK now (you'll have looked) it's actually up to Ģ100 more expensive than a GTX 690. Just not rational. Like i said, buy two for performance value. Two 690's wont work very well. Two Titans will work like a dream. But a single Titan at that price is genuinely silly. It's not even got the same exotic build materials as the 690 (http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/sh...8&postcount=68). The 690 is still the marvel of build and design, a dual gpu that uses so little power and makes so little noise. But, this all about opinions so yours is just as valid as mine.

$449.00 I suppose...I wouldn't buy it personally. I don't pay over $100 for a video card. I can play any game decent enough with a $100 video card.
This game has been played effectively with consumers since the dawn of time. You could wrap a turd in a pretty package and fancy labels...and sell it to most people. It's the difference between what's needed and what is wanted. Best, Liquid Cool |

I think you may have undermined your poll a bit with those "still can't afford it" and "as low as possible" options, many people will click one of those (myself included
), and they have to be discarded if you're gonna calculate the mean acceptable price. ![]() As far as I'm concerned, I'd never give more than $200 for a GPU. And right now, I'm using a salvaged card that cost me a total of ~$40.

I think a lot of people don't understand what "reasonable price" means.
![]() Reasonable to me is not having a gigantic profit margin, regardless of the price.

And on the other hand, even with a reasonable 10% net profit, selling something for $1000 when your potential buyers value it at a mean price of $700 (in their opinion, irrespective of how they formed it), your price actually becomes unreasonable in your target market.

$750 is the obvious choice once you realize a price drop on the 680 and below aren't an option.

Seeing it's performance, a normal price would be between 500 and 600$ with taxes included.

Meanwhile AMD is catering to gaming consoles. It looks like they really don't care about Titan. Maybe AMD knows there is little money in it.

I think people are confused about the poll. Is it about how much you would be willing to pay for it (which is nothing in my case as I'm not willing to own it) or what actually is reasonable?
