need help picking gpu and processor
This is my first PC build and I don't know much about hardware, I tried reading many posts here and in other sites but I didn't get a definitive answer to my question
So, I'm on a limited budget ( around 900$ max.) and I need help choosing between sapphire HD 7770 vapor-x 1GB OC (around 145 $ in my country) http://www.sapphiretech.com/presenta...n=&lid=1&leg=0 or Sapphire HD 7850 2G OC (around 220 $) http://www.sapphiretech.com/presenta...n=&lid=1&leg=0 and for cpu FX 8120 (around 170$) or Intel i5 3470 (around 200$) I want to run games on the highest quality and HD movies ( I prefer best Performance/Price ratio) Any other suggestions are welcomed. P.S. what is the best mobo to go for and is a PSU 500W sufficient for this ? Thanks in advance. |

7850 and i5 3470 would be the best combo for what you have listed. a 7850 will not run games at the "highest quality" but should provide a good gaming experience. A 7870 or higher is needed at 1080P

About the PSU, at full load that GPU spends about 200 wats, intel cpu about 80W (FX spends 125 W), the rest adds up to max 70 W (presuming couple of disks) ... with quality 500 W PSU you should be well within the limits.
BTW, try this http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine |

If I was to build a $900 computer today, this would be what I'd use-
AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket A... MSI 990FXA-GD65V2 Desktop Motherboard - AMD 990FX ... CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM... ASUS GTX660 TI-DC2O-2GD5 GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatp... Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver ... XFX Core Edition PRO550W (P1-550S-XXB9) 550W ATX12... Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Ca... Add an OS, whether Windows 7 or 8(your choice) for $99 $854.90 at Newegg.com What country are you in?

Take a look at this article, match the benchmarks with your usual workloads and decide from there. 8350 is a bit too pricey at $220 imo
Edit: what a farce, I forgot link ![]() http://www.anandtech.com/show/6396/t...-fx4300-tested Last edited by Fourstaff; Feb 8, 2013 at 02:13 PM. |

MSI boards used to be not as good as the others. Totally different now. MSI is making some very good boards these days. Thier socket 1155 boards are some of the best you can get.

![]() If you're having budget issues, you could always take one of the components out and buy it later. In this instance, maybe swap the video card out for something basic. That or memory? I've built most of my computers this way. They just sort of evolve over time. Also, I don't know how well this will work in Egypt, but you could check the For Sale threads.

Eh you cant use 990FX motherboard with i3 3220 :eek;
Get FX4300 instead, and overclock it ab it. Also, 2x4Gb 1866 Mhz is better than 1x8Gb |

I would honestly recommend you try grabbing an i5-2500k and a gtx 660. U can get both for around the same price you mentioned in your op price quote.
