Go to User CP and fill in your system specs so we can see what what you have.

Also IVB would be better as there's not enough between them performance wise to spend more on LGA2011.

You will notice a difference with LGA2011 but X58 is plenty good for today's apps. Your needs, X58 is fine IMO. Maybe 1 more year you may think of upgrading... Nd is correct on IvyBridge 3770K. There is no need for LGA2011 with your needs.

With an i7 960 @4.3ghz and 12GB RAM you would be pissing money in the wind if you were to upgrade now, that's a very fast system still and I would hold on to it at least until we see what Haswell brings over current 1155/2011 offerings.

If you really feel the need to upgrade then get a bigger SATA3 SSD and perhaps a 1440/1600p monitor, otherwise just save the money or put it into something else.

The only thing I can think of is to reduce the power bill, but you have to be smoking good stuff to think that blowing another few thousand to save power is worth it.

I don't see any reason that you need to upgrade other than more SSD's!!!

And you can't do that already?

My system older and weaker than yours and I can do everything you mentioned. Save your money!

I have an i7-3930k system, and subjectively it feels no faster than the i7-920 I have for anything I do. IMO, a big, fast SSD is the only logical upgrade.

coolfat - Please do not double post. Use the "Edit, Quote and Multi-Quote" features

I agree with others that have posted that an upgrade is not necessary at this point. You should post some pics of your rig in this thread:

Yea, I wouldn't upgrade.. I like my 2600k @4.2Gz, but I don't see it any faster then my i7 970 @ 4.0Ghz. If you can pick up a 970 or 980 cheap that would be the only upgrade I would do to your system. I'm with erocker, and more SSD's the better! You can always take the SSD to your next setup.
