Can't customize some program settings in Optimus

Hi,

I have a laptop (thinkpad T410) with intel hd/nvidia NVS 3100M optimus technology. I'm trying to customize which programs are associated with which graphics processor, but the NVIDIA control panel won't let me select in some cases (for example, VLC player and windows media player are both set to Integrated Graphics, and I can't switch them to the NVIDIA graphics).

Any idea how I can fix this? Note how the pulldown list in the image below is disabled, and stuck on "Integrated Graphics". I read somewhere that these are now NVIDIA defaults for these programs (and if so, why would they do that?). Perhaps I can tweak them via NVIDIA inspector?

thanks.
