Battlefield 4 Discussion Thread

This is a thread dedicated to the upcoming Battlefield 4 that's due out within a year. Any news or screens will be posted here along with the random gibberish that makes up the TPU platoon. In the meantime come join us on TeamSpeak. ALL are welcome. Just be respectful and "good" English isn't necessary so don't have a complex, just fun. Remember to wear your "thick skin" because we rag on each other A LOT but, only in good sprits.

TPU Teampspeak: ts21.gameservers.com:9207

Also GullyFoyle is our resident Battlefield News junkie. When he posts all I ask is you say thank you.......its that button in the bottom that says "Thanks".

Im gonna guess we will see the first screens sometime after Endgame. Its gonna be set in a modern time again but I dunno how modern. I have a feeling its gonna take place a few years in the future. Not like 2143 or anything. More like 2043 kinda thing. I guess we will see how right or wrong I am in a few months.

They should save that for BF 2143 and make another present day game but I wish to fight another country than russia.

Can you say, "BF4 Config Utility"? I just hope they don't lock the config file like Treyarch did in COD:BO2..

I would like to fight in the US. Killing invaders in front of Walmart has a kinda "Not in my house" thing going for it.

Product Reviews.net - Battlefield 4 news intel drops in three months

Quote:
By Alan Ng
01 February, 2013

Battlefield 4 is on the way in the near future, DICE and EA have already confirmed that months ago to the surprise of the current Battlefield 3 community. Beta access has been confirmed for those that picked up Medal of Honor Warfighter and now it looks like EA will soon be ready to talk about their next Battlefield entry, which very much looks like will be on the next-generation of gaming consoles.

At the moment, focus is still very much on the remaining End Game DLC expansion for Battlefield 3, which will be available sometime in March on all platforms. After that EA will immediately switch their attention to Battlefield 4, as EA Games label chief Frank Gibeau has revealed in a recent investor’s call that Battlefield 4 is definitely confirmed for a 2014 release date.

Furthermore, he’s also revealed that further Battlefield 4 information will be announced within 90 days, which means that we’ll hear more on the development of the game around the April or May period. It’s no secret that the Sony PS4 and Xbox 720 consoles are supposedly due out at the end of the year, so it’s safe to say that we’ll all be enjoying Battlefield 4 on a brand new console (or PC) when it arrives next year.

One of the essential features arriving is thought to be solid 60FPS gameplay on the next-gen consoles, although this may not be possible if Battlefield 4 still supports the PS3 and Xbox 720. However, there’s still the debate ongoing as to whether next-gen consoles will even support old discs or used-games, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens there.

What are your thoughts on the imminent arrival of Battlefield 4 in 2014? Do you think it is too soon after Battlefield 3, or is is it great to see a new Battlefield game arriving on next-gen consoles as soon as possible?

Yea man, I hope it's more than a Map pack.. They already said they are not creating a new engine for BF4... This will be the first time Dice has released a new BF series with out a new engine.. Well besides BF2 and BF2142 used the same engine.. But I don't consider BF2142 in the same series as BF1,2, and 3. I can see them using the same engine in BF2143, but I want a new engine for BF4.. Maybe we'll get a Frostbite 2.5 or something... I don't see how they can make that engine any better, but if anyone can do it Dice can and I hope will.

They will improve thigns in the engine. BF4 should look a bit better then BF3. I just hope a lot of the netcode and server shit is servers side rather then client side. Also figure out something a little better so that 90% of the people that play the game aren't able to hack like BF3 is now.

I would much rather them make a successor to BF2142. I wouldn't might BC3 either.

I hope for BF4, that the physics for destruction are real time, and not pre computed so that it doesnt all look the same every time something blows up and such.

I really liked BF3 for a while. Now, it's old. I hope BF4 has many many changes to make it different from BF3. At this time I'm uninterested. No pre-order/release day buy for me, that's a promise. Oh, and it needs much, much bigger maps.

i never got into BF3. it just seemed like you had to run around a lot to get to any real action. BC2 was a perfect mix of strategy and fun. we need BC3.

I'd like to buy BF4 on release day, but the way the whole "Premium Edition" thing went down I'm going to wait a little while. I don't feel like spending $60 for a product only to find that same product being $60 will ALL of the expansion content included a couple of months down the road.

I'm posting just for the sake of making an appearance. As far as BF4 goes I'm pretty ambivalent about the whole thing. I still enjoy BF3, but I would rather they just stuck with it and improved upon it until it's fixed, or even until they release maps that are truly epic. I don't want a whole new game that stays broken the entire time with more mediocre environments.

First of all, this is Clubhouse was of course inevitable but why was my first thought when I saw it "here we go again!"?

Oh yes and how about we give the poor overextended Ruskies a break this time around...say, against the PLA Ground Force and it's wave upon wave of sheer humanity with QBZ-95s? Ooo maybe there could even be a cyberwarfare mini-game somehow which takes out all the enemy assets? (the power grid is bush league stuff!)

On second thought...maybe a little too prophetic.

Try closer to 2 years. And BF4 most likely won't be out till 2014 for next gen console launch.

Hopefully it's not two years but I will play it. Sadly I missed out on BF3 but will be able to play BF4 but I will play it on the playstation platform to avoid origin.
