AMD and Crytek Energize the PC Gaming Industry with the Launch of "Crysis 3"

AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the North American launch of its Gaming Evolved title "Crysis 3". Working closely with Crytek, elite AMD engineers optimized "Crysis 3" to enable incredible performance on AMD Radeon graphics cards, powered by the award-winning AMD Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture. The AMD/Crytek alliance accelerates "Crysis 3" with the world's fastest1 graphics processing unit (GPU), the AMD Radeon 7970 GHz Edition. This announcement comes just two weeks after the launch of the highly-acclaimed "Never Settle: Reloaded" bundle from AMD.

"'Crysis 3' is designed and optimized to be played on AMD Radeon graphics. No other GPU delivers the visual experience or next-generation features of AMD Radeon," said Matt Skynner, corporate vice president and general manager, AMD Graphics. "Our close collaboration with Crytek means the robust AMD GCN architecture is fully exploited by 'Crysis 3' code paths. We set out to deliver the best gaming experience possible for enthusiasts, and frankly we've accomplished this through the Gaming Evolved program. The best way to enjoy it is through the 'Never Settle Reloaded' bundle."

"To deliver hyper-realistic experiences, no other PC game demands more from the graphics processor than 'Crysis 3,'" said Cevat Yerli, CEO and president, Crytek. "By choosing AMD Radeon graphics, gamers experience 'Crysis 3' in stunning visual clarity, even when settings are cranked to the max .The launch of 'Crysis 3' is just the beginning of an exciting relationship with AMD and its Gaming Evolved program, which will help fuel development of future CryEngine titles. Together, AMD and Crytek will help redefine the PC gaming industry."

"Never Settle Reloaded" Redemption
Coupons for "Crysis 3" included in the AMD Radeon "Never Settle: Reloaded" bundle are provided by resellers when customers purchase AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series graphics cards, and can be redeemed on the AMD Redemption portal.

If anyone was giving any damn about gameplay as much as they do about graphics, we wouldn't be playing such shite games as we do now...

Did you say the same when it came to TWIMTBP titles as well? Or, does this apply to AMD?

It's not a hard choice, either they go with the reds or the greens...

Besides, Crytek always been quite bipolar...
- "PC is awesome! Crysis 1 FTW!"...
- ..."Damn pirates!!! PC sucks!" (yeah, the fact that it was launched with draconian DRM and at the same time of COD4, Orange Box/HL2,... have nothing to do with it )
- ... "Crysis 2 on con$ole$, later losers! (psst, hey team, let's make a quick day 1 patch to remove some of the obvious consolish things still remaining on the PC version/port)"
- ... "Here PC gamers, have some average DX11 high-res texture pack, we still like PC's" (sure, a "gift" that was supposed to be included from the begining... and several community mods are a lot better)
- ... "No next gen console will be a match for PC's. We are gonna melt PC's with Crysis 3!"
- ... [Insert negative comment here in a month or two]

Just the usual "Cryzy" routine...

All I expect is a topline Crossfire support/bugfixing and scaling for my 7950's. I accept nothing less from such "exciting relationship".

we expect 4k textures of flat nothingness that bottlenecks on the low memory bandwidth of the nvidia GPUs.

The thing is, few do give a damn about graphics. A lose-lose situation? Still waiting on my Hi-Res textures and Realistic Dynamic Lighting/Shadows to become mainstream.

Truth to be said though, from what I've seen in the beta, they did fix the mess that was Crysis 2 a little on the Gameplay department. The Hunter mode seems interesting enough. Probably grabbing a copy in the near future.

As the console hardware queen, AMD can pretty much slap the industry's devs to say something good about them

Forget graphics. Anyone played this yet? I'm more interested in the STORY and gameplay. For C2 that was nonexistent, completely crap. From the videos I've seen lately, except bragging the graphics, the story seems kinda retarded. Anyone can confirm this?

I say the same for both, it is funny people get defensive though, as I knew they would.

Played the demo for 5 min. Same as old crapy game as 1 and 2.
Graphics are so so. Rocks in the game look like their from HL2 . Lots of clipping everywhere.
Cheesy Wind effects on plants ? Hello, its in a dome..no wind.
This will be the 1st crisis game I wont buy. Just same ole stuff.

Review out at PC Gamer:

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/02/19/crysis-3-review

and more realistic one at Kotaku:

Not really impressed tbh...
