Addonics Announces Internal and External mSATA/CFast Docks

Addonics Technologies today announced an internal and external reader/writer that allows you to use mSATA SSDs or CFast cards as removable media on any computer. Both solutions ensure maximum performance from mSATA or CFast media to simplify the task of transporting files from digital cameras, mobile devices, notebook and desktop PCs at read/write speeds of 5,000 mbps (USB 3.0) or 6,000 mbps (SATA/eSATA).

The Addonics External Reader/Writer comes bundled with mSATA and CFast adapters. The adapters convert the mSATA or the CFast media into a 1.8" micro SATA storage device that can be inserted into the open slot of the Reader/Writer. Designed to be powered directly from the USB port or eSATA/USB combo ports, the Reader/Writer connects to any system via eSATA or USB 3.0 and is plug-n-play with no software drivers to install.

The Addonics Internal Reader/Writer mounts directly in the 3.5" drive bay of any system and connects via the SATA port or SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port. Like the external version, the Internal Reader/Writer comes bundled with two adapters for the mSATA SSD and CFast card and converts the mSATA or the CFast media into a 1.8" micro SATA SSD that can be inserted into the open slot of the reader/writer. A model with two slots is also available to accommodate two media onto the same drive bay.

With the optional micro SATA-CF adapter, these readers/writers can also be used to read write to standard CF media. A 1.8" micro SATA SSD or hard drive can also be directly inserted into the device slot. The Internal and External mSATA SSD / CFast card Reader/Writer are operating system independent when connecting via a SATA interface. With a USB connection, the devices support most flavors of Windows, Mac OS X and above, and Linux kernel 2.4.
