man, i know how you feel. i just turned 17 myself.

look for internships. they don't pay so well, but at least they're more interesting than flipping burgers. Also, some of my friends have had good experiences working at grocery stores as baggers, etc.

If you're like me, you most likely have piles and piles of old computer stuff laying around. I'm thinking of selling some on craigslist to raise some xtra cash.

I had a job this summer, internship at Clarity Visual Systems. School is too busy for me right now to get a job.

And just a suggestion about the car? I'd personally get a shitzo one simply because you have a better chance of crashing it when you're still learning. I had a few close calls myself. But then again, i don't quite know what you mean by "good," good as in one up the crappy car chain, or like a nice used car?

you might think i'm weird, but right now i really want a lime green vw bug (NOT the new ones)

nah, terrible on gas and a host of transmission issues

spring for a toyota or honda sedan with high mileage (100,000+)
-cheap
-good mpg
-easily found

*Right eye twitches at COmrad3* A Toyota, or a Honda? Pure garbage IMO, get something like a Lincoln MarkVIII, or a Cadillac Eldorado.

looks like we have ourselves a comedian, because we all know how reliable used lincolns and caddys are compared to toyotas and hondas.

I got a 84 Pontiac Fiero with 125,000K on engine and tranny and goin strong made it to and from Indianapolis to fremont, ohio 3 times! on one tank of gas and thats about 250 miles, reliable? i think so. and dont start by saying "they catch fire!" only one I EVER senn has out of the thousands iv seen and worked on.

Perhaps you could do what we all do, accept that you can't get everything we want. If you want a car, buy a car. If you want a fast computer, buy a fast computer. If you can't afford both, bummer.

$100 shouldent hurt your car buying to much. ford explorer is a fair size vehicle to learn on if you ask me, nice truck though my friend went off the highway with his into the ditch, put it in 4wd and drove out in snow, he dont have his lisence so he has many close calls while on the phone and such. I think you should go with a good sedan like toyota, and get a card, but thats up to you.

Surely you can spare $35 for a graphics card and wait an extra week for a car?

Ok guys getting off topic. He wants a vid card, this will soon fly out of hand with domestic vs import mud slinging.

Oh don't get a good car for your first (btw love the Exploder still have my '96). Your first car should alwqays always be a $300 to $500 beater. It's written in stone taht you shall crash your first car, so crash and learn on a cheapo. Besides, you won't beleive how much fun u can have beating the sh|t out of that car... Best times i had were in a 85 honda that i picked up for $300, That car cried the day it saw me and everyday afterwoord Untill the tow truck finaly came. Put it this way, you seen jackass? that's what you will do with your first car, don't get something above $1000, you'll just be asking for it.

Yea I agree with that statement.
You will be kicking yourself when you mess it up.
This way you wont have to worry about that problem.
I am sure glad that I didnt start in my brand new car.
I would of have been pissed off (even though my accidents were only fender benders at 5 mph).
Still dont risk it and just save up for a new car.
With that in mind go save up for a new system and just OC your car and GPU.
