NetZero launches broadband service

NetZero has been known for selling low priced dial-up internet service. NetZero has seen massive declines in dial-up subscriptions, all of which have turned into broadband subscriptions offered by competitors. NetZero has made a partnership with Verizon to offer low priced DSL service. Anyone who can get a Verizon connection can get a NetZero connection. NetZero offers 768Kb/s DSL for $14.99 a month as a promotional offer, and then charges $19.99 a month. They also offer a 1.5Mb/s service for $19.99 a month as a promotional offer, and then charge $29.99 a month. NetZero requires a six month contract with its services.

Wow... I thought broadband would be cheaper than that in the US, obviously not much better than the UK in any case. I think cheap broadband is good, it makes the big companies realise they have to keep moving in order to stay ahead.

What's funny (and doesn't go in the newspost to make NetZero look good) is that Verizon offers their DSL cheaper then NetZero does .

DSL is notoriously rape. Cable services are much cheaper for the speed.

Yeah. I live in the middle of nowhere and can get a maximum of 768/128 for $14.99 a month (though Verizon)

Well ADSL and cable seem to have similar prices in the UK... I guess cable tends to have more bundled with it though.

%-wise, in terms of "bandwidth-per-buck" mb/sec across the wire? Cable IS a 'better buy'... I'd tend to agree!

However, imo @ least from having used ALL 3 methods in the past 4 years now from dialup, to CableModem (2 BSP's in CableVision NYC, & TimeWarner), & now on DSL?

Well, for how MOST FOLKS use their systems, imo?

DSL speeds are enough!

(Though NOT as good of a "%-in-terms-of-bandwidth-per-buck/mb per second" speed return (ROI))).

Keep in mind, that it REALLY is a matter of what you can afford above all else, & what you're willing or able to "shell out" of your wallet/accounts each month...

$20 coming out of mine the next couple days now in fact, for VERIZON DSL (the $19.99 deal above "Z" mentions in fact -> "They also offer a 1.5Mb/s service for $19.99 a month as a promotional offer, and then charge $29.99 a month").

(& all the BUY IN BULK & "buy 2 for $5.00" type deals (otherwise, single unit = $3.00 etc.) via marketing psychology to take your money from you of course, doesn't matter, when money does the talking to you)...

See, of course, I'd love to have the fastest there is, & have had it in CableModem from 1998-2002 (2002-2003 were my dialup test period again, 56k stuff) & again in 2003-2006 (for typical home use that is, not counting fractional T1 or better)!

Still I think I'd be wasting it largely for my use-patterns online, imo & in fact found this out pretty much this round on DSL!

APK

P.S.=> I've got to admit though, I didn't think I'd like DSL vs. Cable & to tell you the truth? It's more "cost effective" for me to operate @ this lower bandwidth level than it was on CableModems... I didn't need that type of bandwidth (amount cablemodems give you over DSL) & now save $25 a month! apk
