optimising hard drives

like the titles says is there anyway i can optimise my hard drives in bios by changing things, i have been the opition but i dont know if i should change them or if i can, i have 2 ide drives!!! cheers

I'm not sure what you mean? What does the option in your BIOS say?

all except smart

u should turn all of those on except smart and pio.leave pio on auto if u can.smart can slow teh harddrive,but if u have a utility to test for reliability in windoze,then u should leave it on.

there are probably different types of ultra dma.depends on ur hard drive."auto" or
"enabled".if there are options for bus mastering and driving strength those affect
ur hd as well

As far as I know bus mastering isn't an option for the harddrive. It's for PCI devices to allow them to talk to eachother without IRQ.
