Counter Strike to get in-game ads
http://csnation.net/articles.php/interview_231/1/
Fucking sellouts. The day I see an ad in CSS is the day I stop playing Valve games. I know they say only 1.6 now, but mark my words, within a few months of that it will be in the source games too.

I don't like this.. They are coming up more and more. Sure, it might lower the prices (and as a sideeffect, MAYBE lower piracy..) but serious? Who wants to see a dental commercial when they're busy fraggin?

As much as I hate to say this, blizzard seems to be the only company these days capable of a consistant level of quality... Ohwell. ![]() edit: wait, isnt IGA the one doing EA's stuff too? You can bet your ass it'll be the same EULA too. WTFG! 2 game developers down the drain.

It will probably be very similar to web browser ads. Just block the adserver, bam. no ads. GG. They can't push the servers into holding the ad content for bandwidth purposes. Unless they gave the admins a portion of the money, noone'll adopt it.

Ads, I really don't care about so long as they aren't pop ups. Spyware to get those ads, I have a MAJOR problem with.

Politics usually wins. Which means we'll probably barely even see half the revenue go back to the community.

People who run servers arent going to be willing to pay for the extra bandwidth to host or stream ads, within days or hours of the first ads there will be server plugins to block them.

The only place I can picture ads appearing in CS is in the motd. Which I wouldn't care about that as most people don't look at those anyway. (Despite the fact that server rules are listed there, but that's another topic.) Now if ads started popping up in the middle of my game that I paid money for, then I'd have to punch some babies.
