HIS releases AGP version of 80nm X1650XT

HIS has taken the 80nm core in the X1650XT, placed an IceQ Turbo cooler on top, and factory overclocked it to 630MHz core and 1.46GHz memory. It comes with up to 512MB of 128 bit GDDR3, 24 pixel pipelines. It also supports AVIVO, simultaneous AntiAliasing and HDR lighting, and Shader Model 3, all very nice features for anyone looking to upgrade an old AGP based computer.

As much as it's a pretty nice card..... why won't AGP just die.....

They made this card to battle the 7600GT that people are still buying.

And as far as agp system people with 7800GS+ and 1950pro and a good cpu are scoring 9k-10k in 3dmark05 which is pretty damn nice for a dx9 card.

rather than continuing to make these slower chips why not just lower the price of the x1900 and end the battle with nvidia for that market segment.

How I miss the days when ONE SLOT was enough for a graphics card.

Indeed, since only few cards nowadays are DX9 and DX10 is utilized in 3Dmark.

no

there is a gain but not enought wait for a dx 10 card. Your card is still fast and the are few games that use shader 3.

AGP cards are so !@#$% overpriced!!! They have this same card, PCI-e, on NewEgg for $75 cheaper than they are selling the AGP version for. If for no other reason, I've decided to make the leap... I've hung onto my precious AGP for long enough. [RANT]You can only get !@#$% for so long, before it changes your mind for you. It think my AGP X800 GTO dying and having to fall back on my Radeon 9200SE was the last straw. [/RANT]

I think he meant 24 pixel shaders, not pixel pipelines otherwise it would cost twice as much!

Why does everyone want AGP to die? IT doesnt hurt for a company to make AGP cards as well as PCIe cards. Some folks are just not wanting to go to PCIe as they are happy with what they have.

Concerning this card, its quite beautiful but I have to admit I hate the 128bit ring bus. I wish they would do away with the 128bit and stay with 256 or 512 bit

I too want AGP to die, because they already killed socket939 and DDR. Gimme low wattage dual core AM2 CPUs in s939 flavor and I won't mind Or better yet gimme a short PCI-E 1x creative soundcard, I got 3 of those slots for nothing and keeping AGP alive is not helping at all. PCI could go as well :P

I love AGP... I don't want it to die. I'll put up with the hating, I'll put up with the lesser bandwidth, I'll even put up with the lesser card selection.... but what I won't put up with is paying almost $100 more for the same card that's slower... that's were I fall off the wagon.
