Low-end Core 2 Duo out
Intel has released its newest addition to the Core 2 Duo family with the new low-end E4300. Running at 1.8GHz, this CPU has a frontside bus speed of 800MHz and a 2MB L2 cache, the first processor in the range without a 1,066MHz FSB. Although Intel hasn’t provided any details yet itself, news of this processor was first released in November 2006 when it was leaked on the company roadmaps. Two more low-end Core 2 Duos are expected next quarter, the 1.6GHz E4200 and the 2GHz E4400, both with an 800MHz FSB. These new CPUs are aimed at lower performing systems with a tighter budget in mind – the E4300 should cost around $163.

I would have thought them to be a little bit cheaper. So in essence, its 1mb l2 per core like the athlons. Also, seeing as the C2D 6300 is like 180. 163 seems a bit much for a low end proc.

That could just be that the source is wrong, Intel is yet to confirm anything. And remember, that could just be the price that would be recommended for your standard PC shop, Newegg should chop off a few $$$.

I believe these are going down to either 160 or 140 (ultimately being $20-30 cheaper than the E6300)

I noticed these were on sale at Scan.co.uk at the weekend.
£111.26 ($220 US) versus £118.62 ($235 US) for the e6300. Welcome to rip-off Britain

Yea they do.
However, the new chips coming out soon E6320 and E6430 (I believe that is what they are called) are the same chips as E6300 and E6400, but with 4MB of L2 cache. That sounds pretty good to me, esp. when they are going to be the same price as E6300 and E6400.

Anyone come across any reviews of this? I've been interested since the C2Duo launch, but it's more achedemic, as I already have an E6600
![]() Just noticed the E4400 will have a muti of 10x (same as the E6700)! |

They are actually current 1 dollar more than the E6300 on Newegg. at 189. And they are not gonna be cheaper than 160 somthin for awhile I doubt. Only reason they are cheaper is because they are physically got rid of 2mb of l2 cache instead of just disabling it.
And then they lowered the fsb just to make a bigger difference from the E6300. But all in all its pretty much a cheaper E6300 with a higher multiplier. |

Nice, 10x on an 800FSB. Bump up the FSB to 1066 (or all the way to 1333) an you will have a nice little overclocker there. So long as BIOS needs allows overclock from default 800.

Looks like its 9x multi, so raise the FSB to 266 like a standard Core 2 Duo and you get 2394 GHz. The next pentium D 805? (With reasonable power draw!)

This is the plan for Q2 as has been currently released.
E4200 (8x) - 100$ = E6400 E4300 (9x) - 130$ = E6600 E4400 (10x) - 160$ = E6700 So to counter that - so that everyone dosent buy these.. Intel is making the E6350 and E6450 with 4MB CPUs, instead of 2MB. So now its the E6350 4MB vs. E4x00 2MB. E4x00 @ 3.3Ghz is better or the same as the X6800, so the answer is clear. |

Ok so you reckon you could take a E4x00 chip and run it on a board that does native 1333 FSB and it will run fine at that FSB speed?

Not sure... 533 is a high FSB oc in my opinion.. Youll def' need to overvolt and buy a very good cooler... you might even end up spending more on this cheap C2D then you would a more expensive one because of the cooling ;[
